? about a dnp

I was wondering if anyone has ever made a dnp that they cut corner to corner. I made a sample one and not sure how I like it yet. Was thinking about making a baby blanket to try it out. But don't want to waste the fabric if it comes out bad. Here is a sample block that I made of it. Don;t like the fabric but just wondering if it is the fabric that is throwing me or the pattern of it.

I think it would make a lovely baby quilt. Generally If you continue the same pattern, the green triangles are going to create an interesting secondary pattern. I like it.

The pattern looks too scattered for me. I like trying new ways to do blocks too.

For five bucks you can get one of those little blue "telescopes" that when you look through it it multiplies the block you are looking at an you can see what a whole quilt would look like before making the whole thing. I invested in one of these years ago and use it all the time. JoAnns' sells them or you can find them on line.

You can also get one of those little folding two panel mirrors that will increase the view. Another useful tool that only costs a few bucks. Spending a little on this in the beginning will tell you right away it it is going to work as a full quilt. Good luck peace |
I like how the little yellow triangles together look like butterflies.

Here is another pic with the fabrics that I like better. I had some scraps from another quilt that I made for my son using the new fabrics. I like how they look better but still not 100% yet. What do you guys think?

Can you see the secondary pattern that it makes? It is kinda cool but not sure if I lIke it yet
|
I think cutting corner-to-corner doesn't work because only the yellow triangles line up with each other. The other two fabrics don't "hang" together because they are alternating squares and triangles. I actually think the fabric selection is fine; it is the cutting corner-to-corner that is the problem.
Here's an alternative way to cut: http://afewscraps.blogspot.com/2011/...ine-patch.html Edit: Just saw the more recent photo you posted. Seems to me the secondary design is consistently disrupted, making the design discontinuous. I do like the colors better, but then I am always partial to blues! |
I have done the ddnp before it is fun. This was just an attempt at something different

That's interesting but not my cup of tea. It's organized but then it's not. There doesn't seem to be a place for the eye to rest, but then, that may be exactly why someone else would love it.
