Here are some things I made with my GO and Baby if the Die was small
This is a table topper I did for Christmas from the Mix and Match Pattern Book These are three blocks for my Row Robin(Two ends and middle) The two others inbetween I will begin when I can tear myself away from here! |
The difference between the GO and BABY GO is that the GO is 10 inches wide at the opening and the BABY is 6 inches. The GO has a low, short handle (I find it kinda hard to turn)
The BABY has a larger handle and for me easier to turn and the cutter is smaller too. All the dies up to six inches will fit the BABY, you need the GO for above that. Up until now all the strips were 10 inches wide, but I just saw a strip cutter 6"x24" which will fit the BABY. Of course you need a mat for each respective die. One - 5x10, 6x12, 6x6, 6x24, 10x10, 10x24. You only need a mat if you have a die for that particular size. |

DH just ordered me a go. With it came a mat and a 4-1/2, 2-1/2 and several triangles dies. Then I ordered a 6-1/2,square a 6-1/2 triangle and a 3-1/2 die and a 10x10 mat. I primarily want to do flying geese, nine patch, Jacobs Ladder. Thanks ladies for all the imput.

On your Value die ( the one with the triangles on it)
-those are half square - you will find that one really nice if you need 2" finished half square triangles. You can go on the Accuquilt.com site and to the GO site and print out a "Cutting Equilivalents Chart" which will help in converting a regular pattern into using your accuquilt GO. If you can't find it, PM me and I can help you. Sue |
Thanks Roseysue I will do that! PP

I placed my order from shoppersrule and it was the hardest thing to do to spend that $$$ for it. I am excited though.
I went with the baby on the promise if I like it my hubby will buy me the go and strip dies in May after our vacation. I went with the 5" square, 2" square, 3 1/5 tumbling block, and the sharon rose collection. |
I think you will like the BABY, especially since they are coming out with the strip cutters for the BABY - 2 1/2" which is the most popular one for binding, etc. I think. And other dies for that size. Did you get it yet crochtetc?
You will be hugging yourself over and over as you use it and see how great it is. Depending on what you are making - I am doing some squares for swaps right now and seem to have a lot of half square triangles. I am making two 12" blocks at once, all 3" half square triangles and four squares. (I will post them when I'm done-tonite) I cut them out in 15 min,. And the first square is done. (I am able to do a lot of chain sewing this way - goes much faster) I just stopped to eat and will get back shortly. |
Woo hoo! crochetetc we are going to have fun! I want to do nine patch, rd to Calf, flying geese etc

That sounds great. You want to have what you will use. I will look forward to seeing your results and how you like it after using it!

Pat P I left you another message - how to get into to the Reference charts.
I will leave it here if anyone else wants. These are Reference Charts about how to use the accuquilt dies in a pattern that doesn't specify them. These charts will show the finished size of the shape and then tell you what die or combination of dies to use to get to this shape that you want. The first time I used my Accuquilt, I used a pattern specifically for it, so it helped me feel less insecure. (like I was trying to walk in a fog!) Since then (and it only has been a few weeks that I have been doing this ) confidence builds with success. Here is the path: Go to Accuquilt.com Go to HOME page Look about halfway down on left side for FREE STUFF Click on 'Reference Charts' You will see where you can down load two different charts for free: Cutting Equivilents Chart Fabric Reference Chart ( shows how many layers to use of different kinds of fabrics) If you do this and have trouble, please let me know, cause I want you to have success like I have, because it is so energizing! You can PM me if you want. I will check back on my computer periodically. |
Thanks, Roseysue, I never would have known about the charts!
|
I will follow this thread also, this may be on my wish list.

There is now an electric fabric cutter our called the Vagabond.
It will cut 12 layers at a time! I'm getting one and am looking forward to not having to turn a handle. The pinsandneedles1 yahoo group (kathy) sells them for $199.00 which is 35% off the retail price. It is supposed to take the Accuquilt Dies and the Sizzix dies and others too. If you want more information, let me know. |
I will be interested in what you think of it when you get and use it. It looks strange......

It does look like a suitcase, but I saw a very enthusiastic video (I was already considering it) that demonstrated it.
Tim Holtz is the one who invented. Type in Tim Holtz Vagabond in Google and go to where it says demo and watch him demo it. That might answer some questions. There is another place I got info on it - from Kelly Jackson of "IHave a Notion" . She Demos it there. More informal, but as she says, 'real. Check them out. Mine will be here on Feb 3. It is quiet and cuts 12 layers and the sizzix dies that have, like 5- 5" squares on one die would make 60 at once, if that is desired! That is one example. Let me know what you think, |
Please let me know how you like it I was considering the accuquilt, but electric sounds better,I will be purchasing something in the next couple of weeks

Amazon.com has the go dies from Fabric hut and they are alot cheaper. The service is great you get your order way before you expect it.
|
I have a Sizzix and the ability to quickly cut uniform shapes is a boon.
|
I have the Go!Baby and like it. So far, so good!
|
I hope the prices come down eventually. Maybe then I could get one if the dies weren't so expensive.

I think I'm going to get the Vagabound cutter from Sizzix instead. No turning, runs on power, and can use other dies from other companies. The price is certainly compatible, and, according to what I've seen around, you can cut up to 12 layers at a time. http://www.sizzix.com/product/2313 Anyone already own this? Comments? made...works with Go dies and I believe the Vagabound works with Go dies also |
Sizzix does have the strip dies....I have the 2 1/2" and will be ordering more
