I know the Studio is for the Pro's - which I am not. I like the looks of the Go and I think the Baby is too small. I would like imput from those who use one of these systems for cutting quilt pieces and if there are other products - what are they? Right now the Go is $199 at Joanns and I believe that will be the best price I can find. I guess I am asking for everyone's opinions. What do you LIKE and what DON'T you like about these cutting systems.

luvTooQuilt 02-25-2011 03:24 PM

I love mine.. Just make sure you have back up mats as I go thru mine like crazy..

BTW- if you do an accuquilt search here on the board you will get tons of threads on the Accuquilt.. Might answer some of your questions..

Pinkrose4664 02-25-2011 03:29 PM

I love mine. I got mine right after Christmas. But have not gone through my mats yet. How can you tell when you need to use a new mat?

I made the quilt in my avitar with the Go!

tomilu 02-25-2011 03:32 PM

I have the GO and really like it. I think the Baby is too small and have no need for the Studio. I'd buy it at that sale price. I paid $349 for mine last year.

luvTooQuilt 02-25-2011 03:32 PM

Believe me, You will know, it cracks in the grooves of the cuts made on the mat

carolaug 02-25-2011 03:49 PM

I love the Go and the studio. The gray mats for the Go are horrible...if you can find the white mats they last longer and go though the machine better.

Reneethequilter 02-25-2011 03:53 PM

can you use the studio dies with the go

bgullett 02-25-2011 03:56 PM

I love my Go! You cannot use the Studio Dies with the Go. For $199 at Joanns, I would jump on it and thereafter, be sure to visit the Accuquilt website. You will find lots of information, free patterns, etc.

BellaBoo 02-25-2011 04:06 PM

I've never seen the gray mats anywhere, only the white ones. The mats are not expensive anyway. My Go is 3 years old and I paid retail price and it's been worth it to me. I have the Go Baby but DD took it home with her so I haven't used it much but she loves it. There are lots of youtube videos showing tips and different ways to use the dies.

purplemem 02-25-2011 04:20 PM

I haven't seen the white mats anywhere. I just bought 5 mats and they are the gray ones.

I love my Go! I have no complaints at all. I was concerned that it would be hard to turn but it is not.

jaciqltznok 02-25-2011 04:26 PM

I would check out the Sizzix big shot pro!

carolaug 02-25-2011 04:30 PM

I also like the white mats since you can see through them to Fussy cut. The gray mats are so bad..I may post a picture later to show you what I mean...and they crack. I will be on the search for more white mats this weekend.

Debbie B 02-25-2011 04:37 PM

I recently bought my Go for 199 at Joann's. So far I've just used the die that came with it and I can tell that with use that I'll go through those mats like paper...even with turning & flipping. I do think that I'm going to like it. I just have to save some money for more dies. The first one that I'm going to get is the 2 1/2" strip. Also, looking at the rag dies. Actually, I guess I have my eye on a lot of different dies.

carolaug 02-25-2011 04:57 PM

I love the 6 1/2 inch, Tumbler, 5 inch and strip dies

I was just considering to buy it last night then read some reviews which changed my mind...some gave it low ratings saying you waste allot of fabric...the dies don't stay as sharp after a certain no of cuts and it's hard to turn handle to get all the stuff thru...?

Pennylane 02-25-2011 06:10 PM

My sister and I have the pro. We split the price and keep it at her house. We bought it just before they came out with the "Go". We love it, it is precise, and it is quick. I think you cant go wrong with which ever one you purchase.

carolaug 02-25-2011 06:12 PM

I would disagree...very little waste of fabric...they are not cutting it correctly...only hard to turn handle if you put to much fabric in. I love the GO...no issues with the dies not being sharp and Accuquilt will replace if you have any issue. The customer service at Accuiquilt is Outstanding! I have no regrets buying the GO and now also own the Studio...I do not spend my money on wasteful things...and I love the GO and Studio worth every penny....

Debbie B 02-25-2011 06:15 PM

So where do you find the white mats? Does Joann's carry them? My new Go came with a gray mat and after using it just a few times I can see that it isn't going to last long at all. Although, the mats are not expensive, if you have to buy new ones all the time then it seems to me that it will get expensive.

carolaug 02-25-2011 06:21 PM

Some of the Joann stores sell them...the online store sold me the gray cheap crappy ones...trust me...you do not want the gray ones...junk mats...you want the see through white mats. I need to write to Accuquilt and tell them how crappy the gray ones are...really bad!

luv2learn 02-25-2011 07:08 PM

I bought my Go cutter and extra dies before the prices began to drop, and it is still worth every penny to me. I LOVE IT!!

carolaug 02-25-2011 07:13 PM

me too.. and of course still buying...totally worth the money...think how much you spend on Templates and rotary cutters. You really do save money in the long run...really...

BabyCakes 02-26-2011 03:49 AM

The studio is not for pros but for high volume cutters/quilters. I have the studio and just love it. I have nothing negative to say about it.

hobbykat1955 02-26-2011 04:06 AM

OK ladies...sounds like you have convinced me...I'm heading to Joann's this wkend and hope it's still on sale and I'm going for it...

JanetWall 02-26-2011 04:51 AM

I have ordered one Hope it gets here today. Some of the ladies I take a class with say the wouldn't trade there's for anything. They said it would be the best money I ever spent. Good luck

CarrieAnne 02-26-2011 05:07 AM

I love the Go!!!!!!!!!! Our JoAnns used to carry thewhite matts and they now only carry the gray ones. I wonder if the gray ones are the newer ones? I like the whites much better, too!

SherryLea 02-26-2011 05:39 AM

I love my Go got it for Christmas haven't got to use it much been out of town but the little I did use it I can see where it is going to be well worth every penny my husband spent on it. I say GO for it!!!!

ksea 02-26-2011 06:12 AM

I have used mine a ton and I don't find that I waste any fabric at all and I haven't found that the handle is hard to turn. I don't notice that my dies aren't sharp and my 2 1/2inch die gets lots and lots of use. I wish that I could have bought mine for $199 but even at $349 I would definetly buy it again. If you watch the Accuquilt website they always have great sales on the dies. I can't say anything about the gray mats because I only have the white ones. I have never seen the gray ones, I am still using the orginal ones that I got last summer when I got the Go.

Debbie B 02-26-2011 06:51 AM

I went to Facebook and typed in a question about the Go mats. I got a reply that the white ones are no longer in production, but that the gray ones work just as well. Was told that you should flip & rotate (I already do that) and that even if the mat looks like crap it should keep on cutting for a while. And my mat does look like crap after using it to make 4 1/2" squares for a lap quilt. The post did state that the rag dies are really rough on the mats because of so many blades. The rag dies were ones that I was wanting to buy. Being that I am a brand new Go owner I'll guess time will tell for me.

peaceandjoy 02-26-2011 07:00 AM

I've cut a lot of perfect strips for swaps through Quiltville, plus have used my tumbler (the small one) to cut enough for a top. Have also cut a lot of 1/2 square triangles and squares from scraps. Mats look bad, but are still going strong.

Very little waste if you position fabric properly. For example, when I did the tumblers, I put a strip that was 3-5/8" wide on the die (blades are 3-1/2"). I'd have had at least that much waste if I was cutting using templates. And as far as that goes, I'd never have done it - no way I'd spend that kind of time cutting around a few hundred pieces!

I joined pinsandneedles, a Yahoo group, so buy my dies and mats through there. Always 30% off if you use a credit card, or 35% if you pay with a check. Great service!

Debbie B 02-26-2011 07:04 AM

I'm back again...ha. Just got another notice from my Facebook question about the white mats. The first post was from a another member. This one was from Accuquilt and it said:
Hi Debbie,
AccuQuilt wrote:"Ladies - AccuQuilt has decided to switch back to the white GO! Cutting Mats moving forward! Although the gray mats work fine, we know that our customers prefer the white cutting mats over the grey ones."

I have the GO and love it too, but you've mentioned something I've never heard of..."white mats"? Where can you purchase them. I haven't worn my gray ones out yet, but can see they don't last long, even tho they aren't as expensive as the dies, I would like something that lasts longer.

carolaug 02-26-2011 07:18 AM

I think we should all email Accuquilt and ask for the white mats to go back in production...I would rather pay a bit more for those...you can see right though them so perfect for a fussy cut. They wear so much better...no big lumps like when you use the gray mats.

carolaug 02-26-2011 07:19 AM

Oh Debbie...I hope you are right!!! The white mats are wonderful!!! Thumbs down for the gray crappy mats...

I agree with you carolaug! I've watched alot of the videos on youtube and accuquilt website before buying, and you can learn alot about it! There is not much waste at all and the crank is not hard to turn unless you put too much fabric in!

i agree but i am neither and own the studio...you just have to have room for it to be set up all the time. it does not store away. i use it at least 2-3 times for each quilt to make strips, squares and of course the binding. i love mine and it was worth every penny!
