I agree. I don't think the dies are that expensive -Im all for free but thats not reasonable i know.. lol.. Im glad they are sturdy and can handle being used hundreds and hundreds times over.. I Know mine sure get quite the use..

nnewman 03-29-2012 07:54 PM

I love mine. My quilts are so much better with the more accurate and faster cutting. I use mostly strips, triangles, and squares and can't imagine going back to just rotary cutting. Perfect gift!

BizyStitches 03-30-2012 02:56 PM

YES! you will love it.

DeniseP 03-30-2012 04:22 PM

I love mine. If something happened to it I would buy a new one.

Krystyna 03-30-2012 05:17 PM

OK. Nine pages later, I'm sold. I'm going on a hunt for the right one! At the right price.

skowron5 03-30-2012 05:33 PM

Amazon has the dies that are more reasonable than the Accuquilt website. I have purchased several and they are the same quality. I don't know how they can sell them cheaper, but glad they do.

skowron5 03-30-2012 05:38 PM

I see that some think it wastes fabric. Once you learn to use it, there is not much fabric waste. It's nice to see one demonstrated. I bought mine then went to a quilt show and found there are lots of things you can do with the strips that I didn't know you could do.

I was looking them up yesterday and HSN has them for about $150 less than most other places including www.amazon.com . I've actually had it on my HSN wishlist for at least a year lol! Good luck! If you purchase one please let us know where and for how much. :)

Just took a peek at HSN and maybe I'm not looking in the right spot, but they were $349!

Moedeenie 03-31-2012 09:39 AM

Joann's had them on sale about a month ago for $199 and although their coupons exclude accuquilt, we were able to use their VIP discount (for active Guild Members) for an additional 10% off (15% for teachers). I was able to get mine for only $179 and the dies were also 25% off plus the additional 10% off. Great deal!!! Unfortunately, it is not currently on sale:(...............

pokeyscorner 03-31-2012 12:30 PM

My sister has a Go & realized that the table needed to be lower because the machine put on her cutting table was too high & hurt her shoulders. Once put on the kitchen table it worked like a charm for her.

wanda lou 03-31-2012 12:53 PM

I love mine and use it all the time. I bought mine at Joanns $199, ask them when the next sale is and Ebay is a good place to buy the dies. I am sure you will like it.

That's right $349.00. They're $599 on Amazon and I think that might be the price at Jo-Ann's too!

No the Go is definitely not that high at amazon! I'll have to go look it up to know for certain what I paid last month for a Go package which included the cutter and several accessories, but I believe it was about $329' though an amazon third party seller.

eta: I actually paid $372, so a little more than I rmembered, or the Mix n Match set. He actual seller was Fabric Hut, and I see the price is now up to $410.

Katmom 04-01-2012 07:17 AM

I have a "Go" and used it for rag quils and smaller geometric shapes. Had a chance to buy a slightly usecStudio and LOVE it! I rider dies when AccuQuilt has them on sale -- they have a daily del and also will put a particular type of die on sale for a week or two (strip cutters, geometric, appliqué, etc). I find I can cut strips much quicker without the dreaded "v" and have pre-cut several jelly rolls for myself for charity quilts. Prep time for cutting not more than it would be for rotary cuts BUT time spent more on deciding what fabric to cut if wanting to make jelly roll with 20 different fabrics, etc. waste minimal -- to me as much as one would have to cut when resquaring fabric if cutting lots of strips or same size pieces. I love this machine!!

Krystyna 04-01-2012 07:43 AM

Fabric Hut sells them on Etsy for $199 with free shipping. I will have to point my hubby in that direction! Went to Joann yesterday but they didn't have any at the store.
Wondering about the Go Baby. Any thoughts?

PaperPrincess 04-01-2012 09:33 AM

I think the Go Baby is a bit limiting. Look at the accuquilt web site and see if all the dies you want are available for this smaller machine.

tjradj 04-01-2012 12:05 PM

It's just like any other item. If it's something that you would USE, then it's worth it. If it sits in the corner collecting dust, then it's not. Have a good look at what kind of quilting you do. If it involves a lot of the shapes that are covered by the dies you'll have, then go for it. If you do mostly applique of odd shapes, then don't. IMHO

Krystyna 04-01-2012 04:41 PM

tjradj, you're right. But I am sure I am going to use this. A LOT! And with my future daughter in law just learning to quilt (and having trouble cutting things to size) it will get a work out!

Kristi~ thanks for the info! I must not have looked in the right place :( I really do want this. I have Fibromyalgia and a Lupus like disease and I don't have the strength in my left hand to hold down a ruler...not to mention the pain. I will have to keep looking!

With your fibromylagia, you may want to play with this before you buy it . I have shoulder issues and sometimes have problems cranking the dies through.

Isn't that what husbands are for?

clsurz 04-02-2012 01:47 PM

I have both the go and the studio and would not be able to cut without them. I especially like to take scraps and sew them all together and than take the dies and cut it up into all sorts of designs.

angelahen 04-02-2012 02:36 PM

I borrowed a friends who had loads of dies. Unfortunately she did not have the die I wanted to try - the applecore. so bought this and it worked really well. Great to have - but not sure how much I would use it. Another friend has mentioned buying one together which wed night do

Krystyna 04-04-2012 07:22 AM

OK. I'm ready to buy. Would love the studio, but out of my price range right now. So ... is there anything else that is ESSENTIAL in terms of accessories? Is the 6x12 cutting mat sufficient or should I spring for the 10x10? Can I use the 6 1/2" square die with the 6x12 mat? What about a strip cutter?

PaperPrincess 04-04-2012 08:55 AM

If you want to know what size mat you need, go to the accuquilt site, locate your die and there's a bunch of info provided including which machines it works in and the size cutting mat you need.
http://www.accuquilt.com/go-shop/die...are-6-1-2.html

According to the site, you need a 10X10 mat to cut the 6.5" square die. Same with the strip cutters, find the one you want on the website and it will tell you what size mat.

Have fun!!!!

misseva 04-04-2012 09:04 AM

If I remember correctly, you can't cut long strips with the Baby Go. I use my Go! for strips more than anything else and if you fold your material just so there is hardly any waste. Oh yes, buy extra mats cause they wear out fairly fast.

BellaBoo 04-04-2012 09:50 AM

If you are the type that will use a dull rotary blade then don't get the Go. The mats have to be changed when they get 'dull'.

Mats or the dies?

Hi Krystyna, I have been using my GO for over a month now for a row quilt I am making with several quilty friends...I have run my mat through at least 100 times on this project and it still works great! I read that to extend the mat life it is best to flip the mat over and from end to end between uses which is what I have been doing... mine seems to self heal. I picked up replacement mats on sale buy have not had to use them. On the mat size issue you inquired of...I would suggest picking up a 6 X 12 (which I use with the 6X12 and 5X10 dies), and a 10 X 10 if that is required for the 6" square. I absolutely love my Accuquilt GO and plan to use it for my April Doll Quilt!!!

BellaBoo 04-04-2012 12:04 PM

the mats are not expensive and they last longer if you move them just a smidge with every cut so the die blade won't be cutting in the same spot over and over. I've used my strip die for five years and it's still as sharp as it was new. I buy the mats when I find a sale. I keep a good supply of them on hand.

patski 04-04-2012 12:32 PM

I love mine, got it on ebay new for $160 get the dies the same way! I use mine all the time, no more wrist pain when cutting strips

Krystyna 04-04-2012 01:00 PM

Well, here's what I bought. The Go cutter, which comes with some stuff, although not much, the 10x10 mat, 6 1/2" triangle, 6 1/2" tumbler and the hexagon set. That ought to hold me for a while! I can't wait!!!

charity-crafter 04-05-2012 05:17 AM

Check out Ebony Love of LoveBugStudios on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/LoveBugS...?feature=watch
She has some wondeful tutorials on how to mark your dies and cut your fabric to get the least amount of waste.

jcrow 04-05-2012 05:19 AM

I really want to buy a used one. Anyone interested in selling theirs?

I'll let you know after my new one arrives! LOL! But somehow I think I'm going to love it and keep it.

I'm thinking it is the way I'm going to have to go. My right arm is much better than the left. I know I could turn a handle with my right but I can't even get the toothpaste on my brush or button my coat anymore with the left.

Krystyna 04-05-2012 08:08 AM

Candela, I bought it through SewforLess for $199 and free shipping.
