All these suggestions. I just have nothing to add but am anxious as I know the other members are to see it completed.

If you don't want to make a replacement block you could take out a couple and make matching throw pillows with them...It's very sweet of you to do this for your neighbor, be sure and post the finished quilt!

I agree with on-point, and that she may have lost one block. But about those triangles that won't work.
One scenario is: She worked with those triangles, found out that they wouldn't work, and that's why it turned into a UFO. I know of many quilts that end up in that state for such reasons. So I like the sashing idea to finish it. Good luck. You're a doll to be doing this. |
I am currently making a quilt from the Eleanor Burns book "still stripping - after 25 years". As soon as I saw your blocks I thought it was very similar. Here's the link for her book :

I love puzzles and playing with EQ. Will this layout work for you?

Hey! That could be it! What a great story and a kind thing for you to do!
|
Whatever you do, it will be gorgeous! I was thinking a red sashing, but it looks like a navy sashing was already started!
|
It is going to be a wonderful quilt...and you are an angel for helping her complete it. I'm sure she is most appreciative.

How sweet of you to help out your friend's Mom.

So many great ideas! Now I really feel like I has some direction. I'll post pictures when I'm done. Thanks everyone.
