I am 45 yrs. I have been quilting since a child. My granny raised and taught me to sew. She will be 100 years on August 2013.

Hahaha I'm 31 now and I started quilting at 23!! There are also many young MEN out there who quilt...a local kid opened up a shop not far from me and he was only 21 at the time (a few years ago but he's still in his early twenties). Quilting is experiencing an uptrend right now sort of how knitting did in the last decade...it's a GREAT time to be a young quilter!

I've been sewing with my grandmother since I was around 7 and 3 years ago i decided to start quilting, I am now 32. I couldn't imagine life without quilting.

Then ask him if he would like some chocolate syrup on those words he now has to eat! LOL

BTW, I have been quilting since I was in my 30's. I am 51 now, so maybe in his mind I am an old woman. I also ride a HarleyDavidson Roadking and have tattoos. So there.

This is how I would respond. Just look at the young ones who are doing blogs. Lots in the under 40 crowd!

I'm a 20 year old who quilts!

Another 80s baby here. I'm 31 and been quilting for years. The bonus these days is being able to finance my fabric 'habit' all by myself like a real adult. LOL

None of my friends or family sew. I have been referred to as grandma many times, but they all love it when new babies, weddings, Christmas and birthdays come around. In the process of making sure all my special people have at least one quilt from me. :)

I told him that women and men of all ages quilted. I said there were many 20 and 30 year old people who quilted. Any of you want to come forward and let yourself be known so I can tell my friend?

57 too, been quilting for many years off and on when kids, work, etc. did not get in the way of my quilt time!

I am over 21 and although a lady of leisure I would not call myself old. Age is a state of mind iam enjoying my present age of (must ask a friend) 64 ? But I feel more like 16, 26. With no responsibility for anyone except myself. I can do what I want when I want, sound like a teenager. Going to quilting classes and listening to their conversations they would make any group of teenagers blush.
Tell your friend there are no old people quilting. Look at the quality of quilts, they are young, full of new ideas and excellent designs etc.
