I'm working on a quilt for my daughter and SIL. Last night I showed it to DH and he said we should keep it for ourselves. Told him I can't since it's for their anniversary. So he says, "You should make one like that for us?" I immediately went online and picked out all the fabric for "our" quilt. But I didn't order anything cause I'm trying to stick to my commitment to use only stash fabric. Don't know how much longer I can hold out. :)

np3 01-04-2011 11:05 AM

Well, if he buys it instead of you.....that would be okay!

amma 01-04-2011 11:06 AM

It will be very hard to stick to your resolution when DH is such an enabler LOL :D:D:D

Magdalena 01-04-2011 11:07 AM

Isn't there a byline that reads, "If DH wants you to make a quilt, the rule of commitment to not buy fabric is void and null?"

You guys are no help! LOL But I have to admit I like your logic.

AngieS 01-04-2011 11:12 AM

Someone has to be logical when it comes to buying fabric. ;) LOL

It's still in my shopping basket.

If your DH is so impressed with the quilt and fabrics, then I'd go ahead and BUY the fabric. Please show us pics!!!

suebee 01-04-2011 11:55 AM

Yah, what they said!!

quilt addict 01-04-2011 11:58 AM

This is soooo funny. I hope you will do what is right for you. I think I would have caved immediately.

I am trying to use my stash or sew projects that are in my stash this year also.

It needs to be a little farther along before I can share pics. He's also seen the pattern I'm working from so has an idea about the design.

Have your husband push the final purchase button!

Aren't quilters the best!

Everyone has great ideas and I have a funny feeling you just might get some new fabric for this quilt!

I had some running around to do today and happened by the fabric store. I feel off the wagon. So, if you do buy the fabric, I'll be waiting for you. Once you fall off, it's kind of like dieting, I already ate one cookie so why not eat the rest of the package.......... I'm not going to make any more promises to not buy fabric.

OK, here's some pics. I'm making an Eleanor Burns Quick Quarter quilt. You need 24 fat quarters. So one pic is of my fabrics and the other is of the pattern. Hope I don't get in trouble for posting the pic from the book.

My daughter and SIL visited Hawaii last year so I'm calling the quilt Trip to Hawaii. I had to ask some sneaky questions last night to make sure I'm making it the right size.

My fat quarters lined up in the order I'm using them.

Design from Eleanor Burns Quick Trip Quilts. Hope mine turns out this nice.

It would take a whole lot less than that to push me off the wagon, sad to say! Hubs is everything to me, so if he were to say that he particularly liked something, that shopping cart would turn into a line on the debit card so fast your head would go round and round! :)

I LOVE your fabrics for the Quick Quarter - I've been watching the Quick series on Eleanor Burns' web site - they sure look easy when she does them. She's such a genius at making complicated things simpler.

OH, I understand what your saying for sure!

emmamarie 01-04-2011 06:39 PM

It sounds like hubby gave you the go ahead to buy the fabric :D I would go ahead and get it before he forgets.

I love your fabric choices, I'm sure yours will be just as nice if not better

I like this thought process!!

I NEVER make this "commitment" as I am sure I could never follow it through out the year. (lol)

Can not wait to see the quilt that you are working on for your daughter and SIL!!!

Hit that submit button. After all, he did request the quilt. It is his fault.

CarrieAnne 01-05-2011 05:35 AM

LOL< I agree...have HIM buy the fabric!

plainpat 01-05-2011 05:40 AM

Sewing from stash is a good thing, but I didn't have any creams & I use them in nearly every quilt.Thousands of Bolts had a sale, & so did a LQS... I was in when we visited DD. What could I do? Now I have quite a stash of basic creams & pale beiges.Very yummy fabrics. Now I can sew from stash.:-)

sewing4kix 01-05-2011 05:41 AM

I think your anniversary is a very special event that would warrant a momentary slip. What is the time period for only using your stash? Would you actually complete the quilt after that time period is done? I think that if you hubby loves it that much and is requesting it that is special. It's not every day that we find that just right gift for our hubbys. I say go for it :)

purrfectquilts 01-05-2011 05:53 AM

Love your fabric choices for this quilt. No wonder your husband likes it. I'd make his next!

ShirlinAZ 01-05-2011 06:30 AM

Get it while the getting's good! My DH wants me to make a quilt for our bed, but so far he hasn't liked any pattern I've shown him. I finally picked one and will start it when I can afford the fabric. I do wish he'd been more help though.

Baloonatic 01-05-2011 07:28 AM

I agree, if DH buys the fabric your wagon will remain intact! What an appreciative husband!

It's just one little click away from shpping basket to placing an order..go for it. I am encourageing you as I don't won't to be the only one falling off the wagon...ok so I've already fallen...just couldn't resist some of the Christmas fabric sales!

AnnieH 01-05-2011 11:36 AM

Not cheating (I checked with the Cheat Police), so go for it!

I think you should buy what is in your basket. They might charge a restocking fee. LOL We can come up with all sorts of reason you should buy this.
