i always found its best to give people what they would like to receive instead of my giving them something i think they would like.

I wish I could say this surprises me - but the way things are today, the homemade gift just isn't as cool as something store bought. I do not agree with this - I would have loved to have received one of the purses. Next year just give them all gift certificates.

That said, those of us on here appreciate, without even seeing them, all the love and work you put into your projects. Don't let their feelings stop you from creating and expressing yourself.

Oh please adopt me!! I would LOVE a purse!! I believe homemade gifts are the best because they are made with so much thought and love. I have learned (from my lovely mother) to only make quilts for people who will truly love, treasure, and take care of them. I made a quilt for my new baby niece and I have never seen my SIL use it for the baby :(. For Christmas I made my oldest niece a quilt and when she saw the quilt she hugged it with such happiness. She has thanked me for it every day since Christmas. :D

This has probably happened to all of us in one way or another ....
sometimes the person may just be jealous that she doesn't possess your
talents!

You know, I am so over this "they don't know how hard we work"..... what's with that attitude that they can't even be appreciative anymore.

I have given my sister a couple of quilts and she just doesn't appreciate them either. The last one I gave her was a lap quilt and she said, "what am I supposed to do with it".... I am so over her...

Oh Oh! Sorry that happened to you. Maybe if there was a rule that all gifts had to be hand made then they'd appreciate it.

chamby 12-27-2010 05:52 PM

Could we please see pics of the purses?

nativetexan 12-27-2010 06:12 PM

give them all a $10.00 gift certificate next year. I bet you will have to shut their mouths so their jaw doesn't hit the floor!

I have found this with the baby quilts I make. I now only make them for those who will really appreciate them. Saves me a lot dissapointment. I'm so sorry you experienced this.

sueisallaboutquilts 12-27-2010 06:24 PM

I'm so sorry this happened to you. But what really gets me mad is that I was taught to appreciate whatever I get, as most of us have. What happened to gratitude??? Even if I don't like something I ACT as though I love it b/c I do in the sense of someone giving me a gift, handmade or bought, it IS the thought that counts!
