I am making the Dear Jane 4 1/2 in. squares and several are applique. I fuse them and then I can take them anywhere to add the button stitch to it.

BTW .... shame on you CraftyBear ... you're gonna make me have a new obsession LOL

I do counted cross stitch. Mom had cancer...chemo, radiation, chemo, hospital stays, chemo more hospital. Always like ya'll with a bag ready to go at a moments notice, also puzzle books, decks of cards, address book, and most important SNACKS! Good luck!

I suggest embroidered quilt blocks--this one, for instance

Paper piecing is a good suggestion for take-along projects. What I'm doing right now while my husband is goes for physical therapy - charm packs. Stitch by hand (or machine when you're at home), sandwich, and do some hand quilting while you're hospital visiting. Simple and pretty and no-brainers. Since the packs are coordinated farics you'll wind up with a pretty table topper or runner and there's nothing big and bulky to carry with you. While he's having his therapy, I have mine.

I just spent 2 weeks sitting with my husband while he was in the hospital. I worked on doing needleturn hand applique from the Affairs of the Heart book. Fun and relaxing

Prayers going out for your daughter. I haven't read all the posts so this has probably been mentioned. What about embroidery? I've seen some gorgeous embroidered quilts. It would be small enough to carry with you.

What about something in red-work, or applique. I did a whole applique quilt while DH was in the hospital. By the way, my prayers are with you all

I spend ALOT of time in the hospital with our 21 yo dd and don't like hauling my quilts up to the hospital. But I am at a loss as to what to do. I like piecing but I do it by maching. I have looked for small 'kits' to buy and have in my 'hospital bag' for when we have to 'grab & run' but I have not found anything.

Do any one you have any 'kits' that I might could even purchase to have for 'next time'? Or if you have any simple easy things for me to do, idea wise, PLEASE let me know what they are.

You all are great! Thanks ahead of time for the help.
Also, if you'd like to add our dd to your prayers list please feel free to do so. She has a CB page that you can log into and read more about her if you'd like to. We'd appreciate the prayers!
