I have the tool and the Barnett lap hoop.. I dont like it at all.. ugh. Actually, thinking about selling them...

Ok, you have broke me down, I will tell you what I use, those little cheap plastic rings for kids.

I did the same thing!!!!!! and I pain 10 cents for it at a thrift store. It works just as well. Just bend the handle.

All you have to do is practice and the needle scrapes up the back of the spoon. It made my back stitches more uniform.

The one complaint I heard was that 'AB' or the spoon will dull your needle faster. I didn't notice that it had.

I have one here and it will not work for me since I am left handed. So I will stay faithful to my hoop and a rocking stitch.
