I have the tool and the Barnett lap hoop.. I dont like it at all.. ugh. Actually, thinking about selling them...

Ok, you have broke me down, I will tell you what I use, those little cheap plastic rings for kids.

My dear friends in Philomath Oregon Janni Lou invented the Aunt Becky. You rock it back and forth so the needle bounces off the top. www.jannilou.com Hopes this helps

I did the same thing!!!!!! and I pain 10 cents for it at a thrift store. It works just as well. Just bend the handle.
All you have to do is practice and the needle scrapes up the back of the spoon. It made my back stitches more uniform. The one complaint I heard was that 'AB' or the spoon will dull your needle faster. I didn't notice that it had.

I tried it but with my own hoop. Never could get the hang of it

I have one here and it will not work for me since I am left handed. So I will stay faithful to my hoop and a rocking stitch.
