I was going to run to Joanns to pick up one little thing.
Got there and they had boocoo's (sp)of fabric on sale. red tag 3.00, 4.00 and 5.00. all was 50% off the red tag price. Spent 165.00 and may go back tomorrow.
Really some pretty nice fabric.
Will try to find camera and take pic. later.

mom-6 11-08-2010 02:27 PM

Thanks for the heads up! I'll be sure to take my 'plastic' when I go tomorrow!

amma 11-08-2010 02:27 PM

WOW!! That is quite a haul! :D:D:D

Quiltforme 11-08-2010 02:38 PM

Yes I found some great fabrics also. I loved the $3 ones we found!

Antdebby1 11-08-2010 02:39 PM

Yes! I was there today and picked up fabric to make 3 more Bow Tuck totes. Great sale. :-D :-D :-D

Typical sales for this time of year in fabric shops, since the new stuff, some shown at Market last month, will start arriving in shops after the first of the year. And they have inventory in late December so are trying to cull older stock.

I predict stocker shock in 2011, so it's really wise to stock up now at these sales at your lqs, too.

I just got home from there. I was hoping to pick up some sale notions. I spent some $ but it was PACKED with wall to wall people and stacks of new fabric bolts waiting to be stocked. The place was a zoo at 2:00 PM on a Monday. Go figure..

Mattee 11-08-2010 03:12 PM

Were you going for "beaucoup," meaning "a lot?"

QuiltQtrs 11-08-2010 03:13 PM

We have a new Joann's store nearby .... so will view internet ad, and probably

It seems like lots of places are having sales to lure people in to buy. News claims that stores are starting the Black Friday sales now instead of waiting till the day after Thanksgiving.

amandasgramma 11-08-2010 05:34 PM

Yes ---- and went 3 days in a row!!!!

nativetexan 11-08-2010 05:55 PM

i just got back from trying to buy a bit of muslin but couldn't get waited on, so i left. finally got some at Hobby Lobby nearer home.

SherriB 11-08-2010 06:13 PM

Wow!! You got some great bargains. I hope we will get a Joanns some day.

Spudgm 11-08-2010 06:33 PM

I went this weekend but not the good sales you speak of. I still got some good bargains and had a 40% off and then they were doing a 20% off the whole order so made out pretty well.

dasmith2 11-08-2010 06:50 PM

man i need to get there! Cant wait to see your goodies

littlehud 11-08-2010 07:00 PM

Wow, what a sale. Thanks for the heads up.

Tink's Mom 11-08-2010 09:18 PM

Yes, I've been there... $300 later  but then the 20% coupon made it a bit better...
But :-D I got lots and lots of good fabric. :-D

Maureen 11-09-2010 05:32 AM

They also had 20% off your total order if you don't get them in the mail, sign up at the register. Its worth it. Sometimes the have several 40% coupons.

kriscraft99 11-09-2010 05:36 AM

oh I wish we had a JoAnne's here!

sewjoyce 11-09-2010 05:36 AM

Wow -- sounds like you hit the mother lode! :D

CarrieAnne 11-09-2010 05:38 AM

Wow! Ours has been SOOOOO busy!

msquilter59 11-09-2010 05:49 AM

Isn't that always the way it happens? I wish we had a JoAnn's closer to us. The closest one I know of is in Meridian, MS or somewhere in Louisiana. Meridian is a couple of hours away but would be worth the trip! Thanks for sharing. Mary B MS

julia58 11-09-2010 06:40 AM

Really want to go, but I really need to finish what I have already started. How many times have we all said this?

reginalovesfabric 11-09-2010 06:45 AM

the nearest JoAnn's is 90 miles away, but I am going to SC for turkey day and there is a Joann's off I-20 exit 82 in Convery GA and I stop there, on the way back I stop at the one off hwy 59, the one 90 miles away, it's not open when I go up the east coast. I can't wait, there are two in the town where my daughter lives and one just opened 3 miles from her house, lucky me

Pat P 11-09-2010 06:47 AM

cotton went up 54% a friend and i went together to buy bundles on line and split the fabric and cost. we were real happy with the fabric when it arrived. To get the good deal they get to pick the fabric colors. The blenders were beautiful calicos were great abd the plain fabrics of color were varied. Do we hqve a stash. Joann's eat your heart out!!!!!

Oh my gosh, you're a woman after my own heart. I was there five times in October, there were so many bargains I couldn't stop.

Our Jo-Ann's is remodeling and is having a grand re-opening sale next week. I may have to bite the bullet and join the throngs.

BettyGee 11-09-2010 09:38 AM

Jo-Ann's is one of my favorite places, but for selection of fantastic fabrics and great prices I have to say Favorite Fabrics on-line is pure heaven. Take a look, bet you'll see why I say that; plus the service is way above the norm.

Quilt Fan 11-09-2010 09:56 AM

Yesterday, at Joann's, the had held computer used when cutting was not recognizing the 1/2 off on red tag fabric. The clerk had to override to the correct price. It helps to ask the clerk if the right price comes up. Quilt Fan

I heard on the news last week that anything containing cotton is going to skyrocket after the first of the year. This will especially fabrics and jeans.

sharkee 11-09-2010 10:39 AM

Good for you. The closet Joann's was 100 miles away and they had a great sale like that a couple months ago and then closed the store

Maureen 11-09-2010 10:52 AM

I live in South Carolina and we shop in the JoAnns in Savannah. Its a big one. Also when Im up North we have a smaller one here. I only shop the sales with the coupons as their prices are kind of high.

Nanjun 11-09-2010 10:52 AM

Good shopping! And you have beaucoupe materials LOL.

LanaCindy 11-09-2010 12:21 PM

Closes eyes tight and keeps repeating: I will not buy more fabric...I will not buy more fabric...I will not buy more fabric

catrancher 11-09-2010 05:06 PM

"Beaucoups" (pronounced bow-coo)It means a LOT in French. Not trying to be a smarty pants, but I took French in high school (during the 14th Century). Thought I'd grab a chance to use it.

Barbj 11-09-2010 05:13 PM

hmmm... is anyone concerned about the quality of the fabric at Joann's? Quantity isn't everything.

Yes I also went and felt the same as you...I was ok with my purchases but not overly thrilled.

No more than anywhere else. In my experience every shop has its good fabric and its crummy fabric. It's up to the buyer to tell the difference.

crkathleen 11-09-2010 06:05 PM

I did make it to my local joann's. I got some great fabric! I ended up going twice. I had to stop myself so I wouldn't overspend and so I would use up what I have.
I hope cotton doesn't go up too much. :(

SueKitten1 11-09-2010 06:05 PM

I have been to JoAnns yesterday and today.Bought lots of $1.00-$3.00 yards. I loved every moment of it, and the girl cutting the fabric actually liked cutting for me. She must be a sewing-quilting type of girl!

perry 11-09-2010 07:47 PM

Our Joanns opened in Aug. I signed up for coupons still no coupons . I will not go back untill I start getting coupons in the mail!!!!!!!!. Just had to say it
