I just found this last night and WOW!!! She also has her Florabund BOM there that was in the McCall's Quilt Designer contest.
http://www.erinrussek.typepad.com/on...ime/my-tweets/ I think I will scrap my ideas about a floral applique design I've been thinking of and do this one. |
love it...put this in computer favorites to do later....I am doing the houses BOM and the stars BOM here on the board
|
I have just went to the site and downloaded the patterns thus far.
|
I downloaded everything last night.
Just be aware that she is asking that the center block design be purchased but, of course that can be left out. I have no idea how much it is as I haven't looked at her shop yet. |
these blocks are awsome. This is going to be my next project. Thanks for posting the link.
|
I love her blog. Erin is very talented. Her starch tutorials are what got me hand appliqueing. I hope that she branches out and does more than birds and flowers in the future because she has massive , massive talent.
|
I've used the starch and freezer paper template method on several things now, learned it from the Sharon Schamber network.
I am going to try Sharon's other method of using disolving paper to turn under the applique edges and you just leave it in. It just disolves to fibers when washed. I just received my order of 5 yards from Sharon's website. |
I am working on this right now. The center block pattern is $10.00. I just received it last week. I'm having problems hand appliqueing so I'm doing a blanket stitch on my machine. I like how it's turning out.
|
I just ordered the center. :)
I'm going to hand applique, it gives me something to take with me to work on at breaks and downstairs in the family room. |
Where did you find the Floribunda BOM? I was all over the site and didn't see it. Of course, I am an old geezer and probably was looking right at it. Ann in TN
|
  I couldn't get them to download.   These are such beautiful blocks, and I would really love to make them. Guess I'm out of luck, huh?

The tweets are free to download, except for the center block. |

She really has an outstanding site with lots of tips and visual help. I don't use her glue technique for applique but I think that she does an outstanding presentation. Let us know if you continue to have trouble downloading. |
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing! Saving this site!
Maureen |
I do use her glue technique for applique and it works great. I also like the heat restistant templar sheets. They are great for turning over the edges.
|
WOW is right!!! I just downloaded the first three blocks and ordered the center block. Thank you for sharing this with us.
|
I'm sorry, I just saw all the posts for each Florabund block were there, not that the pattern weren't. You are correct that they are no longer free.
When you click on a pattern for My Tweets it will come up on a PDF file. You need to click on the Save icon (the floppy disk) and save it to your computer. |
I am working on two of them now.
|
I saw this when it first came out & almost had to sit on my hands to keep from downloading these cute patterns. But this yr I have vowed to stop printing off so many freebies cuz that just "ain't" enough hrs in the day to getthem all done and I find that I'm just wasting ink & paper.
|
Can you not just save them on your computer... this way you can go back later. I don't print all this stuff out ... actually, I don't print anything until I am ready to do something with it.
At least you would have it if you changed your mind.. |
Mods, please delete, I must be hitting the send button twice... sorry..
|
Can those of you doing the Tweets project answer me this... I know that she recommends 8 yards for the background but I'm stumped on how much fabric I should buy for the 27 different fabrics that she listed and is using in the blocks.
|
I don't know how she came up with that for the BG but I am only getting 4 yards and have it so that I could use a different if needed. Also I am using scrapes for the applique so that they are all different. I like scrappy.
|
I have been trying for a couple of days and still can not down load them.
|
I read that she recommends a half yard of each color. I found a fabric list the first time I saw the blog. It was a PDF with all of the fabric names listed but now I can't find it.
I'm going to use Bali Handpaints FQs. |

I have been scrolling back and this all starts around Jan 10th. On the 14th Jan she started posting the blocks. Now all this is intertwined with her other Florabunda quilt so it can be confusing. She talked about FQ but I think you are safe with 1/2 yds. I will try and copy what I saved regarding the background:
["""For the background blocks I am using Bella Solids Bleached White and you can order it from Fat Quarter Shop by clicking here. You will need 8 yards. For the small squares in the sashing and the binding you will need 2.5 yards of a coordinating blue fabric. I am going to use one of the blues from the “Happy” collection. The yardage for this fabric line will be at Fat Quarter Shop in September and I will let you know when it’s in and what other quantities I am ordering. I am so excited about this I can hardly sit still (maybe that’s from the coffee) and I am drawing birds on everything. So mark your calendars and come quilt (tweet) with me in 2011. 1-15-11 Make sure to cut your background fabric larger than 14.5" x 14.5". Fabric can shrink with applied applique so save yourself the headache and cut BIG. My squares are cut 18" x 18". Another handy idea is to use a pinking rotary blade to cut. This eliminates some unraveling.""""] Now I also have to say that I am not doing this quilt now. I seem to remember that there are two sizes that you can make of each block........good luck. If I find any other tidbits I will post.

Now that I have rambled on I think that this link [below] will show Tweets in a nutshell without having to scroll through her whole site. I would go back into her home page as she does have some fantastic tutorials.
I hope that this helps http://www.erinrussek.typepad.com/on...ime/my-tweets/ |

I've read it over and over and I cannot find the list that I did the first night I stumbled upon the blog. It came up with a file and it listed every fabric, by name, collection, color, etc. I should have printed or saved it but I had just started looking at the BOM and it was RIGHT THERE. It had fabrics from Me & My Sister Favorites, etc. Maybe it was for Florabund, I don't know.
I don't guess it matters that much since I will use what goes with my focal fabric which is Michael Miller Birds of Norway. I scrolled through collection after collection at several sites, including Fat Quarter Shop, and this is one of the few that had a design I liked and lots of colors. Strange to have printed birds on a bird applique but I am hoping that I can get at least the flower pot center cut out of an area without prominently showing a bird. |
How does one join this block of the month and how do i receive the past blocks red

When I first looked I thought, I can't do this it applique.
But after reading everyone's remarks, I see there are different ways of doing applique, so I'm going to give it a try. Thank you for sharing this site. |
I love that fabric. It will be perfect. With all this talk I hope I don't start another project.....
What are you going to use for your background fabric?

I've also downloaded all the blocks, but I've been hesitant to start because I really love her fabric choices and haven't found the fabrics anywhere. Pam, please let us know how you like or not the dissolvable paper. I think you could also use the dissolvable foundation (paper piecing) paper that I saw for sale at Joannes....

It might be the same thing as far as I know. I got 5 yards and it's just a roll of 18" wide or so with no identifying package.
It's like a stiff non-woven interfacing.

I ordered Bella Solids in bleached white, 8 yards of it. Fat Quarter Shop has a sale on it with the code 'solids' so it's just $5.20 per yard. I thought of using a beige but I like the clear colors on the white that she is using.

In regard to Pittsburg Pam's comment:
I think she leaves the blocks up for free for a given time and later charges for them. I have not done the blocks, but I have saved all of them, including block one. Marcia Edited: I have saved the blocks but not the center block. I misread PP's comment, and after I re-read the information I have saved, I realized my mistake. Sorry!! |
