Downy fabric softner has a program where you make quilts for kids and donate them. It's called Quilts For Kids/Touch of Comfort.

I've had weeks like that. I sew every day and sometimes whatever I touch turns to **********! It's so frustrating. Put that quilt away until you have the patience to deal with it and start something else. I find that the more I try to fix something the worse I make it.

Some day's we all live under "Murphy's Law". Just when I think I'm going along great I do something stupid. I think It's God's way of keeping us humble!
Those days I get out of my sewing room and crochet, knit or just chiull out and watch an old movie brcause I've found that if I keep going it just gets worse!

I'm not familiar with the Downy Quilt, just what is it?

DeniseP 07-01-2010 07:08 AM

Downy fabric softener is sponsoring Quilts for Kids. If you go to their website, you can request a kit to make a quilt. It includes all but the batting.

Yes, some times the quilt goddess does not favor us. So I put things away and try another day.

wildyard 07-01-2010 03:11 PM

I don't think there is anyone who HASN'T had a day like that, lol. I wonder why it takes us so long to give in and walk away when things are going wrong. We must all have a little bit of stubborn in us too. Smiles and hugs, Linda aka wildyard

I looked up the web site for the Downy quilt project. After I wiped away a few tears I could do my work with a renewed energy. Worth looking up and reading about. There is a video as well.

I have invented my own patterns cause things WON'T MATCH UP even tho I cut straight and sewed 1/4.' No reason for the problem that I can figure. just me jan

How in the world did you manage to break 2 sewing machines? A couple of times I've thought my machine was broken, but it wasn't. Once, it was the setting. My error. The next time, it just needed cleaning. The feed dog was packed with lint.

DOTTYMO 07-04-2010 11:39 PM

 i clean my machine every sunday. It was a trick I picked up from a friend who is a fabulous quilter and repairs machines. Doing it on a pattern each sunday morning first thing has kept my machines going great.
