It seems that everytime I come on lately that I'm getting these things popping up and overriding my page. Then sometimes I'm getting voice overs for commercials that aren't on my page. I've switched from IE to Firefox and its still happening. Soooooo confused as how to rectify this.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Stitchnripper 02-03-2011 11:14 AM

No, not yet. I wonder what the deal is?

amma 02-03-2011 11:15 AM

None of this has ever happened to me :D:D:D

Carrie Jo 02-03-2011 11:15 AM

I cant stay on chat. It keeps bumping me off, driving me nuts!

babyfireo4 02-03-2011 11:17 AM

I can't speak for anyone else, but it's not happening on mine. Hope it stops so you can enjoy without worry :(

charmpacksplus 02-03-2011 11:17 AM

It hasn't happened to me. I have pop ups blocked.

sewwhat85 02-03-2011 11:22 AM

mrspete 02-03-2011 11:27 AM

featherweight 02-03-2011 11:33 AM

Not me, I sure don't have that problem. I have the popup blocker too!!

Prism99 02-03-2011 11:49 AM

No problems here. Have you tried re-loading your system? Running a virus cleanup program?

Crafty, are you getting My Face overriding the page? That's the only site that's been intruding for me...so far. Happens every other day or so and the only way I can stop it is to go offline and then come back on again. It's REALLY insistant...and yes, I have all kinds of security software and have run a full system scan with no results. This is the only site that it happens. Could it be a bug in the QB system??

miss_ticky2 02-03-2011 01:03 PM

It sounds like you may have either a virus, or some spyware or adware. Run your antivirus and also some anti-spyware and anti-malware programs
For antispyware/adware/malware I use Superantispyware and Malwarebytes and both are good programs. I would run them both. These are in addition to your antivirus program. They are free to download and use and can be found here :

Superantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/ click on the free download button

Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ click on the download free version button

My Face is one of them that its happening with. Actually, just got another one today, but don't remember what it was. This is the only site that it happens on, so I don't know what is going on either.

lots2do 02-03-2011 03:07 PM

Yes, I've had My Face do that to me.

ghostrider 02-03-2011 03:28 PM

So is this a New Hampshire thing!!?? Where's pinecone! :D

LucyInTheSky 02-03-2011 03:31 PM

I use Chrome, and before that Firefox. Never had an issue. I have all the ads blocked, so they don't even show up.

gale 02-03-2011 03:36 PM

I've never had that happen here. I agree that it's probably spyware/malware. I second the recommendation for superantispyware and malwarebytes.

Bamagal 02-03-2011 03:44 PM

Malwarebytes should get it. Download to desktop and install -for best results after download. Shutdown - unplug power for a few minutes then bring computer up in safemode and run malwarebytes. If that's too much just download it and install and run

ghostrider 02-03-2011 03:57 PM

I have run all the spyware, malware, virus and bug software...it was the first thing I did. My system blocks ads and pop-ups just fine, always has. This is neither. It's a website that takes over this one, just as if you went to another site.

If you watch the bottom line, the one that usually says 'done' or 'opening...', just before the site switches, it goes through a bunch of URLs for doubleclick, googleads, big ad moguls like that. It started just after Patrice posted the introduction to the new Admin so the combination of those two 'coincidences' is what made me wonder if the QB site was controlling, or at least responsible for, the take-overs.

miss_ticky2 02-03-2011 04:13 PM

hmmm...still wonder if there's something malicious. I haven't had any problems with QB.

Another thing you could try is an online scanner as well. Either of these two are good. I've used them both at different times

http://www.eset.com/online-scanner

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/au/

They both will load something onto your computer (if I remember correctly) but it shouldn't interfere with anything.

Another thing I've used is Trojanhunter..but it's a paid one. You could download the trial and see if it finds anything though. Just google trojanhunter

Check to see if you have popups blocked. You may at one time had them blocked and without knowing it acknowledged them to send popups through.

MerryQuilter 02-04-2011 02:59 AM

No problems here use Firefox as well on my apple laptop, my husband said lots less viruses on apples. He is our family computer guru which gives me lots more time to quilt, haha. Good luck

eparys 02-04-2011 03:34 AM

I too have had this happen - I reported it to the previous admin. I have not had it happen for about 3 weeks, but there for almost a week previous to that every time I came to the site it happened.

sewcrafty 02-04-2011 03:42 AM

My pop ups are blocked and ran malwarebytes and still happening. The strange thing is that its just on this site, nothing else has been affected and when I go into unread topics I keep getting norton saying that its blocked a high level threat. Very, very strange!

sew wishful 02-04-2011 03:44 AM

My only problem with the QB is clicking on a subject and finding a "this topic has been deleted". That has happen about 10-15 times in the past 3 days! Any help for this problem?

Yes, I am affected by the Myface thing. Yes, in NH.

No help for that problem but to stay positive, don't try to start controversial topics that divide the members of the board and cause hurt feelings, don't 'trash talk' retail establishments or guilds. When they are deleted promptly, for which I am grateful, the board is much more enjoyable.

sewbeit58 02-04-2011 04:18 AM

I am having the same problem and it is driving me crazy.

calicocat 02-04-2011 04:33 AM

sounds like your pop up blocker has been turned off or you have a virus.

Try using Spyblaster

topics are deleted if they are not in line with our rules. those rules are in place to protect the best interests of our members and of the board.

topics are moved if they are in the wrong place. (this isn't usually considered a "no-no". 999 times out of 1,000 it's just an accident. )

the "help" is for members to read and follow proper procedures.

i don't want to sound harsh or snarky. cross my heart. we love you all to pieces, even when you make mistakes.

but the facts is the facts.

MaryKatherine 02-04-2011 05:25 AM

I had a horrendous virus over Christmas "Malware" and it took my husband and some Geek in Australia 3 days to get rid of it. Its probably the direction you should look
M

bourvel 02-04-2011 05:31 AM

Oh Yes, I have that same problem too and I'm not in NH. I ran all the spyware, malware, you name it to try to get rid of it and no way. I'm sure I got it trying to open a site suggested as it's only on this board that I have that problem. I have to shut down my computer with ctrl/alt/del as it's the only way out and restart again, it's very frustrating.......
If someone has the solution, please pass the word around.
Thanks

patricej 02-04-2011 05:41 AM

[quote=ghostriderThis is the only site that it happens. Could it be a bug in the QB system??[/quote]

it probably isn't the QB, but a very nasty adware virus downloaded after clickin on one of the random/rotating ads.

if it was the QB, we'd all be having the problem.

but since more than one member is having the same problem, i've asked Admin if it's possible to trace the source and recommend a solution.

Suzi 02-04-2011 05:44 AM

Am also having the problem but it happens to me on random sites - I believe I picked it up in FaceBook by clicking on an interesting ad. Hope someone can come up with a fix for this as it's certainly annoying. Also - a new happening is that different words are now underlined in green just asking to be clicked on and when I do I am whisked away to a site called GameVance. Has to be malware!!!

quiltmaker 02-04-2011 05:59 AM

There was news out from Microsoft that there is a virus/trojan out there that is making some websites go crazy. There is a fix on the Microsoft website. If you have your security features set up to update everyday or various times during the day you wouldn't necessarily have to do this fix. It's some bug getting into certain websites and causing them to go bonkers. Sorry I am not as computer literate as some people. Maybe if they've read this they can explain it better. But once it gets in from where ever it can create problems and you wouldn't know exactly where your computer got the problem especially if you click on numerous links to other websites.

I haven't had any problems with this website and I have IE, Norton everything (sorry can't remember the exact name) and malwarebytes checking all the time and have no problems anywhere.

You just need to make sure your computer is set up to constantly check for antivirus, spyware, malware, etc. and you shouldn't have any problems.

MamaYitu 02-04-2011 06:11 AM

Not that, but I have noticed when I go on QB, it is like someone has gone on before me and looked at the different topics--as the topics come up red, like when I look at them. That is creepy??!!

faithsmamaw 02-04-2011 06:12 AM

i do not have problem once i get it to load i have to reboot computer sometimes to get it to work but i think its my internet connection

reginalovesfabric 02-04-2011 06:16 AM

no not to me either

Thanks, Patrice. That's very much appreciated.

I never click on any of the ads floating around here, don't click on any links provided by members unless I am SURE about them ahead of time, have superior security and blocking software as this is my business computer, all systems are scanned daily and nothing has been found. It's quite a ponderment!

Yes I was having a terrible time with it & nobody else understood. Thought I was just gripping about the site trying to make a little extra money. When my computer kept getting this virus for Antivirus security I took to my computer doc & they deloaded a really tough malware blocker & now it has stopped. Best $25.00 I ever spent. In this past week that virus has tried to show up & my super malware kicked it out before it could make a stay. I know it is a pain.
