What rabbit hole have you sent me down?? I've never heard/seen Terry Rowland before, and now I've just spent hours watching her videos! I'm thinking I have my next new shiny object to pursue. Thank you!!

She passed away in 2021 but her daughter had so many requests to keep her blog up on the internet that she has allowed it to stay in hopes to help others with their quilting. I've completed about a dozen blocks! I love blocks on point so that is how I'm placing them on the design wall for now. I plan to sort colors when done!

Just saying, the Stitch Therapy blog linked to showcases watercolor quilts, which is a different technique...or outcome. Made up of usually 2 or 2.5" squares going dark to light, often forming a recognizable image. Color wash are 5 patch squares, generally trimmed to 3.5". Not being picky ;) but there is a real difference.

Just started making a few blocks with my scraps. Very fun!
I have been using the Bonnie Hunter scrap saver system, but usually don’t do what she recommends, which is to cut the scraps while you are cutting the pieces you are using. As a result, I end up with a bin that needs to be pressed and cut into the right sizes to store with its mates. Terry Rowland’s system allows me to generally skip the pressing part because the cutting doesn’t need to as accurate. It also feels more productive because I am kiting up a block, not just sending the scraps to storage. |
One question. Are any of you making “white” blocks or just “colors”? I have a lot of “white” left over from Chilhowie and others. My initial thought is to just go with “colors” on this one and then maybe make something “low volume” with all those “whites” on the next one. Thoughts?
