Yes, I've added labels by hand to quilts. I've also machine sewn them on first, before sandwiching.

It depends on the quilt. If the quilting will interfere with the label I put it on after quilting.

I do this too. I usually hand stitch it on and if I put it on after the quilting then I make sure it is at the edge and stitched into the binding. Just makes it harder for someone to remove.

I hand sew them on after I'm done with the quilt, because I like to put the date I finished the quilt on them.

That's me all over.

Wow, lots of ideas, thanks for sharing.

I have done it most of these ways. I have attached before quilting, after quilting with label or pigma pens.

I also write my name in pigma pen somewhere under the binding wrap.

I would hate for a quilt to be taken (not that mine are prize worthy) and try to make something permanant.

I have also seen on this site somewhere I think that someone signs the quilt with a pigma pen and also attaches a label over that.

ditto, it's like signing a love letter.

I've done it both ways. Once I copied what someone else on here did and that was take a large square of fabric, fold in half, fold in half again and sew into the corner and sides before binding. Made a pocket in which I stored the hanger just in case they wanted to hang it.

Sometimes I write the label and other times I machine embroider the info. Just depends on teh quilt and the mood I'm in.

I have attached them before and after finishing the quilt.
The last one I put my name and date on a border that I put around the Overall Sam Quilt with my little quarter inch alphabet on new machine. I did that after I was done. It is sewn through all the layers as it was already quilted when I thought about it. You can read it, but not overly bright, so that it just blends right in and dark enough for it to be read.
