Haven't been here in a little while ,wanted to show you all what I did yesterday. Autumn is my favorite time and I love to decorate and bake. I made a Autumn tree with one of my skinny alpine trees and after I got done decorating the house I made two german plum cakes.

Sewfine 09-23-2011 02:20 PM

Love your decor, is the kitty applique also?

Dianemarie 09-23-2011 02:21 PM

Absolutly love your tree and decorations ! I would love to do the tree but hubby says -- you're kidding right:( Besides we live in a small house.

Everything else is decorated !

Scrap Happy 09-23-2011 02:21 PM

Awesome fall decorations! The pies look fantastic too! :-D

char634w 09-23-2011 02:22 PM

Wow Wow Wow thank you for the inspiration !! Your decorations are beautiful and those cakes look amazing. Fall is also my favorite time of year and now I need to get into the attic and bring my decorations down. Wish I could bake like that but that is impossible. Have a great day and thanks again for sharing.

Beautiful decor, but I have to ask, is that snow outside?

marymm 09-23-2011 03:22 PM

cakes look yummy. Decorations are cute. The only decoration I've made is the tp roll pumpkin made of a fat quarter, but no one's guess what the base is yet. (And I learned how to make on the board!

mzmama 09-23-2011 04:38 PM

Cake??? Cake???? Did someone say Cake????

cinnya 09-23-2011 04:53 PM

LOLOL about the cakes.
This is an old german recipe . it is a lot denser and not as sweet as american cakes. I have made this with plums or apples and everybody loves it.
1/2 cup sweet butter
3/4 cup sugar
2lg eggs
1tsp lemon juice
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
about 7 plums
Beat butter, sugar, eggs and lemon juice until creamy
blend flour, baking powder and salt in seperate bowl. Add to the butter mix, alternate with the milk.
cut plums in half remove pit but not the skin. cut plum in a fan shape-about 4 cuts-sprinkle with a bit of sugar and almond slices.
spread in greased spring form. bake at 350 50 to 60 min. do the toothpick test, because all ovens are different.mine takes about 60 min.
You can make apple, nectarine or fresh peach cake out of this recipe. they are all good.Sometime i use chopped walnuts and sometimes i add a little vanilla flavoring..........Enjoy :))

Do you put the plums in the pan first or on top of the batter? (This looks like something DH would enjoy.)

quiltingme 09-23-2011 05:37 PM

Love the decor...I need to get mine out. Those cakes looked just yummy!

Just lay the plums on top of the dough. the dough is creamy,so I just kind of push them down a little. as the cake bakes the dough will come up and around the plums a little.

allie1448 09-24-2011 02:56 AM

Love the decorations and cat! Thank you for the recipe I am off to buy plums!

I am inspired by your enjoyment of the fall season. Now, all I need to do is take time to clean house instead of quilting so I can decorate also! lol

shanlo 09-24-2011 04:01 AM

I love autumn also. I haven't thought to put up a tree like that. How adorable. Nice job

evmt1967 just mentioned the exact thing that caught my eye right away...the table covering. I LOVE it. I'm not a big fall person...Christmas decorating is my time to spend days and nights decorating the house. But I do have some fall decorations that hubby has to find the boxes for me. We had Mid Atlantic Waterproofing do our basement last spring and had to remove all boxes from the wall to wall shelves against the back wall in the storage room in our basement. I looked for the boxes the other day marked Fall and Halloween but couldn't find them in the stacks that I could reach. Anyway.....

Your table covering just gave me a great idea. I am making a wall hanging with Snow Babies panels...using strips and blocks around the panels and finishing with 2 borders. I just might change the design of the hanging and make 2 things...the wall hanging and then a table cover. I have a table about the size of yours inside the front door...to the right under a window and it would look perfect on that table.

Thanks for sharing your photos...since it inspired me...lol.

jhoward 09-24-2011 05:11 AM

I'd love to know how to make the plum cake, too, as we have 2 plum trees and love plums!! Your decor is so warm and homey looking-my style!

munchkinmama 09-24-2011 05:25 AM

How beautiful. I could even smell the wonderful cinnamon/apple smell of autumn. I need to get busy.
