Too cute and funny.

My avatar is not a quilt. It is a stainless steel llama made by the son of the owner of the llama farm on Hiway 22 between Buffalo and Muscatine, Iowa. The son wanted to make something very unique and next time I travel up there, will get a better close-up. He welded single 'leaves' into layers to make the outside look like llama fur. People stop all the time to take pics of it, and I did, too. It is interesting and unique.

Mine is a quilt that is a border exchange done with my center and borders from Canada, England, Germany and So. Africa. Every quilt in the group was stunning.

Mim -- I am almost finished hand quilting it now

yep, they usually are. mine is. this one is in memory of my cat, Loki, whom we lost at age 17.

lindyline 05-15-2011 05:23 PM

Like Maryb119, mine is also this years IRR centre. Mine has 4 rounds now,and only 1 more to go.Funnily enough, I worked on one of Mary's borders, and she has just finished the 4th border on mine.
And yes you're right, there are a lot of great quilts out there made by some very talented people. If you haven't already, you need to go look at the thread for the monthly block swap. They're amazing.

luvstitches 05-15-2011 05:39 PM

I made the boy next to the horse and my daughter made the younger boy. LOL! just being silly
Love your quilts!

Angellight 05-15-2011 05:47 PM

Mine is too. and my helper holding it to the floor is Lexi, my son's "Rotten"weiler. After all of her help, I now try and sandwich my quilts on the bed which is not easier to do...

Happy Quilting,
Susan

Lakeview Quilting 05-15-2011 06:45 PM

Yes, made all of them.

Bonbonary 05-16-2011 01:44 AM

Mine is too. It is a combination of pieced pinwheels and embroidered pinwheels. The pattern was from the "Quilt Life" magazine last year & they provided the embroidery design free online.

Mine is a quilt I would like to make . . . if I could ever find a pattern or get up the courage to do something myself. I love birds, especially when they are this beautiul. I have the fabric!

jeank 05-16-2011 03:25 AM

Mine is a quilt made for my Grandson's wife's bridal shower. I love black and white quilts and scrappy is my thing. I always say that the more different fabrics I can use the happier I am.

insgal62 05-16-2011 07:18 AM

Your quilts are beautiful!! My avatar is one of my favorite quilts that I have hung in my sewing classroom where I teach quilting in my basement.

Baloonatic 05-16-2011 07:26 AM

Mine is. I hand appliqued it for my friend and fellow balloonist for his 25th anniversary. That is his balloon front and center, made with ripstop nylon of course. I made the gondola using floss I wove to look like wicker. The oak tree trunk and branches, the pond flora, the fenceposts, the smaller balloons, and the redwing blackbirds are all embroidery thread. The barbed wire is metallic thread, as well as the lettering on the balloon envelope. The crown line is button trine, the 3-D flag is the marine code for "G," and the pennants on the envelope are also 3-D
