Always barefoot or with socks...
|
My shoes come off the minute I come in the house. Yes I sew barefoot. Can't do anything with shoes on.

I'm a sock sewer 'cuz my feet are usually cold, otherwise it's barefoot.

I take off my right shoe to sew.

I have always been very careful to store my used rotary cutting blades in one of the yellow cases they come in. When it is full I throw it away, case and blades. I thought I was being very careful! A few days ago while putting away some new items in my recently cleaned sewing room and, barefoot, I stepped on a large rotary cutting blade. A new sharp one. I have no idea where it came from or how it hit the floor. It wedged against the old carpet and cut into my heel at a 45 degree angle. I have new appreciation for my calluses. A new sewing room asset!! I quickly adjusted my weight and the blade didn't go too deep. I am fortunate. WEAR YOUR SHOES--ALWAYS! Mary Beth |
I have to take my shoe off to feel the foot pedal. I tried to sew something the other day with my athletic shoes on and I couldn't feel the pedal. Makes me wonder how I can drive better with shoes than without.

Barefooted for sure! My feet are just happier when they are bare... what can I say? :o

I do believe the next line of quilting fabric should have the quilters barefoot. We are such tactile folks!

99.9% of the time I have my machine on "cruise control". I move the speed down to next to nothing if I'm doing something really fiddly. Or even hit the up/down button if I want to be really cautious. I would have to look pretty hard to find my food pedal right now. So it really doesn't matter what I have on my feet! But having said that, when I come in the house I take off my outside shoes, and put on my indoor shoes. I find I'm more comfortable, and actually safer on the stairs, when I have shoes on my feet. So, my final answer is...... "shoes on"

I am pretty flexible. I wear house shoes, slippers or slipper socks when sewing. I don't sew barefoot simply because I already have something on my feet by the time I get to the sewing room. I now have diabetes and the doctor has been very stern in his insistence that I wear something with a sole. I hate slippers, they make my feet too hot, so am making my own (and yes, found out where I can get sole fabric!).
