I'm always going barefoot, I was raised that way. So of course I sew without shoes. I may put on socks in the wintertime but, normally I'm barefoot. The only time I put on shoes is if I'm going somewhere or if I'm working in the basement

I never wear shoes unless I absolutly have to, even on long trips they are kicked off in the car.

I can go either way, but the foot pedal on my featherweight is easier to operate barefoot. Or as my granddaughter used to say "bare-a-foot" :o

I sew with my toes also.
You wouldn't sew with mittens on, your fingers couldn't feel what you are doing.
Same with my toes, I need to feel the pedal.
So glad I'm not alone. lol

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies,

I have always been very careful to store my used rotary cutting blades in one of the yellow cases they come in. When it is full I throw it away, case and blades. I thought I was being very careful!

A few days ago while putting away some new items in my recently cleaned sewing room and, barefoot, I stepped on a large rotary cutting blade. A new sharp one. I have no idea where it came from or how it hit the floor. It wedged against the old carpet and cut into my heel at a 45 degree angle.

I have new appreciation for my calluses. A new sewing room asset!!

I quickly adjusted my weight and the blade didn't go too deep. I am fortunate.

WEAR YOUR SHOES--ALWAYS!

I find that I have better control and can find that perfect speed when I am in sock feet or bare feet. This is particularly true when free motion quilting and I want to keep the rhythm of the machine and movement even and consistent. You're not alone in the bare foot world.

Shoes?? Aren't those for outside only? Have always sewn barefoot, gotta grip the foot petal with my toes also.

Have to be barefoot, feels like I have better control that way.
