Now storing is a whole other matter. We are nothing if not opinionated on this site. I say that as a good thing. |
After a bad experience with a packaged bat, I will never use that again. It was difficult to flatten out and one area there was a hole about 6" in diameter. I buy it off a roll now and will con't. to do so forever. Hancock Fabrics is where I buy it.
I usually buy it when it's on sale. |
It's how it generally comes. I prefer it that way as well because I don't like guessing quality etc through plastic bags.

I buy it in the packages only because I can see for myself exactly what amount of shrinkage I can expect. That information is usually not given on the rolls and the sales people usually don't know.

I buy rolls of batting when I have a 50% coupon. It lasts quite a while, but sure is cheaper than buying single batts.

I buy rolls of 80/20-90" and poly-48" wide for kids quilts, as most of my quilts are queen size or for children. I buy king batts as they are 120 x 120, and bamboo as they do not carry that on the rolls around here.

Both price and convenience were deciding factors for me bought mine on Amazon and love having it on the bolt.

I have bought it both ways. The bolt I bought at JoAnns with a coupon (Warm and Natural). I do prefer the bolt for cost and ease of use.
My only regret with the bolt (90") is that it is too narrow off the bolt without piecing for making larger quilts (I have gone from lap quilts to kings and some queens). It will be less of a problem since we moved and I have more work space to piece a batting together, so the bolt will probably get used up soon. I will probably buy another bolt when it is gone. |

I myself buy it on a roll from Jo Anns online when I can get the coupon off. For me it is more practical and less expensive that way.
