I asked a question last night about relaxing batting that comes out of a package and learned that many of you buy it off the roll. I've never bought it that way and am wondering about the benefit- is it simply just to avoid the creases that come with a packaged batting? Is it also cheaper? Just curious! : )

It can be much cheaper and it can be less of a waste factor. Is there a Brand name you like? We may be able to help you find good sources/prices.

Oh, goodness, I've just now started quilting a quilt, after not having touched any quilting for ages and ages. So I won't have need of any more batting for a while. But, this time around I did buy a package of Warm and Natural, though I don't know enough to be stuck on any particular brand!

I prefer it off of the roll, it is much cheaper and I can cut it to the size I want :D:D:D

What is the best and least expensive kind? Never know for sure what kind to get. I have been using fleece as a batting. I like this but it is heavy. I want a lighter weight for summer lap quilt. I want something that provides wamth but not weight. BrendaK

I prefer to buy batting off the roll. Here where I shop it is Warm&Natural. Now at Joann's it is over $13.00 a yard unless you have a coupon. I like it because it is not wrinkled.

Warm and natural or Warm and White is my choice. I buy it by the yard with my coupon from Joann's. Tried polyester batt high loft in my last quilt and won't do that again. I really don't care for the look of it. Marge

I use Warm and Natural or Warm and White on the roll. We had a 50% off coupon so bought a whole roll of 40 yds and saved almost $150!

If you buy it in the package folded up, shake it out and put it in the dryer for a few minutes to get the folds out of it. Works great! Or you can iron out the folds at cotton setting. That works too.

I also buy my W&N and W&W on the roll. Usually JoAnn's has it on sale for 50% off right after Thanksgiving or Christmas and there's also a coupon for additional money off so you can double-dip. I even got free shipping last time.
