I don't think that is too pricey considering you get a number of different patterns to use. I think the common block is gorgeous..just saved it to my favorties so I can purchase later.

I agree with one of the above posters...its made of squares and half-square triangles.

You all are so creative! I can tell you are experienced in creating your own blocks from one you've seen. I've not done that before, but maybe it's time that I give it a try. Thanks to the wonderful people who posted the blocks they created in EQ, I think I could make the block fine. It's the interconnecting blocks and making it work with the other blocks that is hard for me to figure out.

It looks you could draw it out on graph paper fairly easily, as others have said, only half squares and squares. The stripe fabric used is probably a key to it's design success.

To involve less piecing you could do the dark blue strips as
an 8 x 2 and do the corners like you do a flying geese. You could also do the light blue outside piece as a 6 x 2 and do the corners the same. Add a light blue to the end of the strip for the side. Make a 4 inch pinwheel for the center. Of course you would have to add the 1/2 inch for seams. Just a thought as the bigger the pieces are, the better mine comes out without having to match so many seams. I love the pattern but won't be able to try it any time soon. |
Thanks so much for those pattern sites!

Not really a bad price for the book. I have seen some at LQS that are $30.00 or more.
