lsb142 03-18-2012 06:49 PM

I can't even imagine making a quilt like that. She said it took her 9 months. I think she was from New York. She said she was married and has 3 children.

alikat110 03-18-2012 06:54 PM

Very awe inspiring!!!!

ncsewer 03-18-2012 07:19 PM

So beautiful. As I moved the mouse and the picture, it looked like the wheel was moving. I can't even imagine how this was done.

auntpiggylpn 03-18-2012 07:45 PM

WOW! What a gorgeous quilt! And what a talented quilter! I can easily see why it is your favorite!

Borntohandquilt 03-18-2012 10:55 PM

As far as I know this quilt has already won several big awards and ribbons. It's called "America, Let It Shine" and is made by Sherry Reynolds. Just beautiful....

sewgarden 03-18-2012 11:40 PM

Oh my. That must have taken forever to make. It's beautiful

JustAbitCrazy 03-19-2012 12:14 AM

This was my favorite quilt at the show, too. Sherry was there, answering questions about the quilt. She is darling, and seems "over the moon" about winning her award. She said the quilt took her 9 months to make, and she mostly sewed from 9 pm until 3 am while the kids were asleep. (I remember her saying her oldest two children are 9 and 11 years.) Are you ready for this??--She made the quilt entirely on her Bernina! Awesome accomplishment!

tammy cosper 03-19-2012 12:48 AM

Whew! This sure is beautiful!

Barb, thank you so much for posting a link with those detailed pictures and a bit of background on the quilt. The maker is a true artist. This is just beautiful, peicing and quilting. Just amazing.

JJean 03-19-2012 01:20 PM

If that's all it takes, I would have gotten one years ago!! LOL

jcrow 03-19-2012 03:15 PM

If she can do it, then so can we. It is just determination and will power and sewing continuously. I could do that, but I'm afraid I'm a bit lazy. 9 months is a long time for a quilt. But she only had so many hours to quilt. When I see quilts like that it makes me what to try to be better and try harder quilts. I'm glad you posted that picture. Gives me hope.

Candela59 03-19-2012 03:18 PM

OMG! Boy do I feel inadequate! Just gorgeous!

alisonquilts 03-19-2012 03:23 PM

That is a stunning achievement, the moreso as it is by a home quilter. My first thought (as a home quilter, with a young'un) was "where did she have the space to lay that quilt out flat?! And how did she stop the cat walking on it?". I am thoroughly impressed...
