if there is a guild in your area and if possible for you to join then do so as they usually know all that is happening in the quilt world and sometimes they have different mini groups but I have learned a lot through my quilt guild Good Luck if you were closer you could come to my house I love to have people over for sewing oh yes the area that I live in the quilt shops has a time set for open sewing it is fun and can learn from others

If all else fails teach yourself:

Baby Rails (super easy with Excellent step by step instructions) So easy, the baby could do it herself.

Go to the "Search" at the top of this page and type in "Beginner Quilt Lessons" there are many sites listed there. Good luck.

I wish I had known about this Board when I first started to quilt. Had a rough time learning, but kept at it and finally finished my first very simple quilt. Loved it and kept going. I am self taught. Bought a book called Learning to Quilt and read it hundreds of times. Still refer to it once in a while. Fons and Porter also have a book that is really helpful.

This is how I learned. Took a six week evening course from a LQS here in town.

Hi,
I am from Pasadena and a fairly new quilter. If you check with Painted Poney Quilts in La Porte you can find out what classes they will be having on quilting. It's also a great shop, great fabric, thread, and patterns.

After I retired, I took classes through the University of KY local county extension office. I have also seen classes offered through the adult education program and through some of the local quilt stores.
