there is a quilt guild in Baytown. Have you made contact wth them. They may know of classes.

A few years ago I went to a wonderful quilt show in your town. It was just great! Look up the schedules for it to come again, go there and ask. Everyone was so nice, I bet you'll get lots of advice and answers there.

Check with your Churches - they might have a Bee ---find them extremely helpful.

Too bad you don't live near me. I am thinking of offering private quilting lessons to beginning quilters. I would go to their house for a two hour session once a week. Good luck. Look on Craigs List and see if anyone is adverting quilting lessons.

Check with a LQS and see if they give classes. some of the shops in my area have sit & sew afternoons/evenings. That's a great way to meet other quilters. It also might be worth taking a vacation day for a class at the LQS. My first class was after I had been self study for a year or more. I learned a lot in that first class. Good luck.

TRy your local quilt guild as ours has lessons for begginners

If you can't find a teacher, let me suggest a book: Better Homes and Gardens Complete Book of Quilting. You can almost teach yourself to quilt from going through that book. I use it as a reference when I teach. Good luck on finding a teacher or a group who will teach you.

Any good quilt shop should have a quality instuctor to teach beginners. I taught for about 15 years...my class was 2 hours a week for 6 weeks...We did a sampler that included rail fence, pinwheel, ninepatch, and log cabin. Then a border and mitered binding. I also showed machine AND hand quilting. The price was $70 plus supplies and you used your own machine.

You learned enough techniques to do hundreds of quilts...all different.

I am sure that if you check out the LQS, you will find a good class.

That's how I found mine. The search showed three stores in the area and I went to their sites and found what I wanted.
