Guess what! I found my basting spray. A nice pretty green-capped can of Sulky KK2000 was sitting very nicely on the bookshelf right opposite my ironing station. Need I say more!!!! No, I didn't look there! Why? Because I have NEVER put it there before.

Jim's Gem 10-18-2010 11:36 AM

LOL!

amma 10-18-2010 11:48 AM

LOL... I hate to say this... but you are not alone :D:D:D

Ramona Byrd 10-18-2010 12:07 PM

You are not alone at all. Some time ago, a month or more, I finished cutting something and put up my cutting board and the
rotary cutter.

Later I looked all over the house for it, finally gave up and went on to scissors cutting, and just yesterday I moved a big pile of fleece material that I had put right where I could see it..you can guess it, under it to keep it from the cat was my cutting board and cutter.

I have a theory about lost stuff. When you are not looking for it you will find it.

Exactly! And when you find it you feel so stupid!

crawford1219 10-18-2010 12:19 PM

I have one even more bizarre-I came home from the grocery store the other day and set down my keys and for the life of me couldn't remember where-I looked and looked and couldn't find them. I have a spare set so I wasn't too spazzed out, I was just confused as to where I could have placed them. Hours later my son came to me and asked me why my keys were in the fridge-I guess I put them there when I put away the milk.

Charleen DiSante 10-18-2010 12:24 PM

At least you put the milk in the fridge and not the cupboard! :)

kriscraft99 10-18-2010 12:25 PM

and the cereal in the fridge?? unfortunately I've done that before too

Yeah, I had a similar one a few years ago. I was babysitting my granddaughters; one fell asleep in her car seat so I unlocked the door, brought her in and layed her on the sofa. Finished doing whatever it was I was doing and later realized I couldn't find my keys. My older granddaughter and I looked everywhere, refrig and freezer, etc. That night when my son came to pick up the girls he asked why my keys were in the door for anyone to find. DUH!!!

Illsa 10-18-2010 12:41 PM

Back in the time when I didn't need my eye glasses except to read and write I lost my glasses and couldn't find them till I went to make supper and there they were in the meat drawer in the frig. That happened when I was in my 30ties. Had that not happened then I'd be panic stricken thinking it was the "HOME" for sure. But I can still remember the glasses AWOL put neatly away with the braunschwagger and laugh. Illsa

Good to find it before you used it as spray starch.........

The one I hate is when you look for something and it's right before your eyes and you still don't see it until hours or days later!!!

I was visiting my parents one weekend and found the TV remote in the fridge..

I am always losing my stuff.. Its not until your looking for something else you lost is when the first item you lost shows up again!!!

ginnyk 10-18-2010 01:59 PM

I just tell my family I have so many quilt designs running around in my head there is no room for the small stuff.

In our house....Mary Jane did it!

Some years ago my late husband lost his wallet. He'd been to a bakery to surprise me and bought a big shopping bag full of loaves.Could not find his wallet when he came home. About a week later I needed something I knew was at the very bottom of the freezer ( chest type) and something black caught my eye. A wallet. He had put his wallet into the bag at the bakery instead of his pocket and simply dumped the contents into the freezer. So Manly!

tooMuchFabric 10-18-2010 08:27 PM

You probably did not put it there this time either. I am fully convinced there are Quilting Room Gremlins afoot in the world. Stuff goes walkabout around here now and then too.

SueKitten1 10-18-2010 08:36 PM

That is way too funny!

SueKitten1 10-18-2010 08:39 PM

I know just what you mean. I have a package of pictures of all the quilts I have made somewheres, and can't find them. One day when I least expect it, I am sure they will pop up!

tuesy 10-18-2010 09:41 PM

LMAO..

sak658 10-18-2010 10:18 PM

A friend and I went to her beach house and we were going to make Halloween Costumes for our grand-children,.So we got ready for bed, and she ask me had I seen her glasses. I said "NO, I haven't. So she kept looking, she came into where I was in bed reading, and said, Who's glasses on top of your head. I had hers on reading and mine were on top of my head. Got lots of laughter out of that one, and I hadn't even had a margarita....Fun Fun

In this instance I find it helpful to ask someone else if they can see it. I think sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees because we are so intent on what we are looking for. I nick named my Mum Hawkeye when she was alive as she would always find what I couldn't see right in front of me.

I live alone, and my dogs aren't much help. In fact if they went into the basement I would be convinced they hid the basting spray from me. I can only blame myself.

damaquilts 10-20-2010 04:04 AM

In my house every time I lose some thing my daughter asked me if it's in the microwave. I have a habit of putting coffee or tea in there to warm up and forgetting about it until I go to use it again.
And yes I have Gremlins in my house too. I swear I will look somewhere for something its not there I go back a bit later and it is.

vjengels 10-20-2010 04:32 AM

I'll bet you never found your basting spray in the kitchen cabinet before!.. I must have been in quite a tizzy that day, as my kitchen is on the other end of the house! I don't know how long it's been there either; I can only guess that I had it in my hand, got distracted ( probably by something chocolate...) and put it in there... ahhhh, I can't wait for old age to set in!

Little Sew n' Sew 10-20-2010 04:46 AM

Or looking for your glasses and low and behold there sitting on top of your head, anyone done that!!!!

My mother always said when you lose something, it is time to clean up. SOOOO TRUE!

The other day I picked up a pair of glasses (I have them everywhere) to put on and I already had a pair on. Not my head, my face.

Tassie 10-20-2010 05:37 AM

And I thought I was the only one! I look straight at what I have lost without seeing it...DUH! Stay confused normally...Now that I have decided to quilt...can you imagine???

LoriMcc 10-20-2010 05:38 AM

Thanks for the smile... I can relate!

Nope..nope...I think its a conspiracy. I think that my stuff moves itself from where I put it just to drive me crazy. Can't you just see that rotary cutter and the scissors laughing it up at night (like in Toy Story) thinking about where they can hide next?

Oh yes, I am guilty too  Once I filled a pitcher with water to put in the fridge to get cold. Later when I went to go get that nice cold water for a drink, it wasn't in the fridge. Someone, put the pitcher in the cupboard instead of the fridge. Gee, I wonder who would do such a thing. Since I lived alone at that time, it must have been the cat.

quilt3311 10-20-2010 06:42 AM

You are definitely not alone-- I just misplaced my can of air to blow out lint from one of my machines. Have no clue where I put it.

Victoria L 10-20-2010 06:57 AM

It's always in the last place you look ....lol

ladybalcom 10-20-2010 07:00 AM

I had just cut a strip, I needed, and walked away, when I came back the strip was nowhere to be found. Finally gave up looking and picked up my ruler, guess what? there was the strip, happy as a clam.
