I am normally a very tidy person and my sewing room is really neat...but last night having sewn a border of 1"squares round a crib quilt...I went to bed leaving bits everywhere...unable to sleep thought I would get up and finish it....sewed another edge...pressed it...then stepped back onto a small open pair of scissors that were on the floor, hidden by scraps...which dug themselves nicely into my foot.....fortunatly the cut is quite small...but very painful......
moral of my story....should it be 'tidy up in future' or just 'wear shoes' ? |
Ouchhhhhhhhhhh.....defo tidy up!!

I'd wear shoes. Even when you are extremely tidy it's still very easy to run a straight pin or needle in your foot. They seem to hide until you are about to step down.
Sorry again.
I vote for shoes!
I second the shoe vote.... Hope it heals quickly..
OUCH!! When I try to do things late into the evening I seem to always end up with more pain than gain
I wear crocks when I sew just for reasons like that. I have had many pins and needles stuck in my feet.
Ouch! I hate shoes!
I feel your pain  Shoes !!!! I don't always have time to clean up.
Both. The old saying "Better to be safe than sorry"
At lease sandles!
Shoes, definately. That sounds very painful. I have stepped on pins, but fortunately, for me, my DH is very good at finding lost pins. Just kidding, but he seems to find pins lost on the floor much faster than I do. He thinks I do it on purpose.

I vote for the shoes......
Well I hate to wear shoes, even driving LOL
Keep track of your scissors? Hope the pain is gone soon and doesn't slow you down. |
tidy up is the best method for preventing problems. hope your sore gets better soon.
I put on shoes when I get dressed for the day. (I prefer Toms shoes for everyday wear. Love them) No one in the family goes barefoot in the house, I never started that with the kids unless it was muddy, wet shoes coming in. I told them to use commons sense and their manners about shoes in the house.
I wear shoes!
I always wear sandles in the house. When I'm sewing I kick off the right sandle to run my foot pedal.
Sorry that happened to you but my vote always go for tidy up :-)
Wear shoes!! LOL Glad the cut wasn't too bad.
Ouch! I'd tidy up a bit~~
I don't wear shoes in the house in the summer. I am very careful about sharp things as I have carpet. If I drop a pin or needle, out comes my magnet and I find it immediately. I am also careful about putting my scissors and other tools back where they belong when I use them. I hate having to look for things. Fabric? That's a different story, LOL. There are scraps and pieces all over until a project is finished.
I do both. I am a shoe/sandal wearer all of the time- no bare feet for me. I think I started that in one house we bought that had hardwoods throughout & electric baseboard heating- cold floors. Plus I am flat footed & having an arch is much more comfortable for me. My sewing area has carpet & it is easy for a pin to hide in so I never go in there without protection! I hope your foot heals quickly.
I would wear the shoes. I would rather sew than tidy up.
I vote for the shoes too (although I'm awfully fond of going barefoot). My co-worker stepped on a needle that had been dropped on the floor. It broke off in his heel and surgery was required to remove it. Very painful!

I wear slippers with soles around the house. Mainly cause I have cats and I don't want to tramp on a soggy hairball in my bare feet in the middle of the night but the soles also protect against sharp objects that I've left laying around.

Sue I hate shoes, so I would clean up. |
oouucchh-please wear shoes.
Not a good thing. Keeping things off the floor is a must. Just don't let the mess on the floor remain, the table tops will still let you be messy if it helps your creativity
I wear flip flops but in my tiny apartment my sewing space is part of the kitchen. I have to iron fabric in front of my kitchen sink.
Tidy won't help - go for the shoes!
Shoes. Until you hit that "nesting" phase and clean up. I'm still waiting for my "nesting" phase to kick in...
Shoes! Sorry for your pain, but it sounds like something I would do.
Poor baby! OUCH....take care...
Ouch!!! Those naughty scissors. I am sure they have legs and walk or perhpas you have a quilt fairy who borrows them and leaves them in unexpected places. :D
shoes for sure pins don't WANT to be cleaned uop and will lurk in unexpected places.
