There are lots and lots of free block of the months online. I have been saving several to do "some day":

I love Sue Pelland's "My Magical Garden" which is being offered as both a pattern-only BOM and a pattern-and-fabric BOM.
https://suepellanddesigns.com/2018-bom If you scroll down and look under the Instagram and Facebook logos, there's another link that shows pictures of the blocks. The link says "My Magical Garden" Quilt-Along Patterns and Videos. |
American Quilter's Society typically has free block challenges. They are currently working on Road to Paducah. I think it's cool looking. I'm not participating but I'm downloading the daily blocks...

Jinny Beyer’s Moonglow was originally a BOM, and the pattern is still available. Free except it is 75 pp long.

I second sewbizgirl's suggestion of piecing the past. The designer's name is Debbie McInnis and she is most helpful when it come to problems. You can buy a kit if you want. I've done about 3 with her and have always been pleased with the end result Her approach is good for me since I am a messy quilter. You cut the pieces a llittle bigger and then trim them down. There are some real stunning interpretations if you Google or look in Pinterest. Let us see what you do.... Marcia
