There's a number of free BOMs on the web, which I save on my computer, and use the fabrics I want to use. I don't buy kits, or pre-cuts.

Imost bom i have seen are actual patterns you can buy i would just buy the pattern, cut it out and separate it into months
|
I am doing the National Quilt Museum Challenge BOM Club---no kit to buy. Also the Featherweight Shop.Com is doing the Farm Girl Vintage BOM --- no kit but need the book "Farm Girl Vintage". And others have mentioned Eleanor Burns' Quilt in a Day Fun on the Farm BOM ---no kit or pattern to buy.

I am currently collecting the patterns for a nice quilt done by “Morning Glory Designs” that will be beautiful whether I use her colors or mine. No kit involved, but I believe she has several patterns ongoing. After she offers them free she then sells them for not much.

I am amazed at how many BOM there are out there. I am currently collecting patterns from the National Quit Museum BOM Challenge and Quilters for Comfort (Block every 2 weeks). Both free and challenging.

The Craftsy 2012 block of the month is one of the best. I use it to teach people different quilting methods. It’s free.

Teen,
Thanks for the site I am downloading the blocks. |
Pat Sloan has had several; she offers kits if you want them but shows colors so you can choose your own and most I've seen are free - but one and they are using a specific book for it.

linmid: I just downloaded all those blocks, too! Hoping they are within my skillset
mjp: this looks cool! I have so many options now, I am giddy!! |

Hi Red,
If you like civil war style, Piecing the Past usually has a free BOW running. The current week's block is offered free, and after that she sells it for $.99. When the BOW is over, the completed patterns sell for about $15. You could sign up for her newsletters and then you will be able to get in on the start of the next one. I did one of her BOWs, "Rest and Refreshing", and was very pleased. And of course you don't have to use civil war fabrics. http://www.piecingthepastquilts.com/ Pat Sloan does a lot of these, too. http://www.ilovetomakequilts.com/in-the-summer-time/ |
