Which borders should my planet quilt have?

3 Attachment(s)
I am playing with 3 different border ideas. I have been going back and forth and could use some input.

Which of these do you prefer?

Thanks for any comments.

I'll vote for number 1, just the blue. Very cute quilt, Dina!

Kassaundra 11-25-2016 08:58 AM

The first one, having the white border, makes the inside look "incomplete" to me.

yngldy 11-25-2016 09:01 AM

#1 definitely! Nice quilt!

Tartan 11-25-2016 09:09 AM

I like the first picture the best but they all look good. Cute quilt and sometimes for me, I decide on what colour thread, backing and quilting design to determine the quilt setting.

meyert 11-25-2016 09:09 AM

I agree with the others - #1 is my favorite too cute quilt!

Misty's Mom 11-25-2016 09:21 AM

Another vote for number 1. Love it!

marand 11-25-2016 09:25 AM

I vote number 1. Cute cat!

gramajo 11-25-2016 09:54 AM

I also vote for #1.

MadQuilter 11-25-2016 09:56 AM

#1 frames the center. The others distract imo.

Kitsie 11-25-2016 10:19 AM

The 3rd one! Both look good so why not use them? Love the fabric!

mjpEncinitas 11-25-2016 10:37 AM

Yep #1 Fun quilt

Annaquilts 11-25-2016 10:42 AM

I prefer one but 3 is my second choice.

QuiltNama 11-25-2016 11:05 AM

#1 looks great

Sync 11-25-2016 11:43 AM

I like the first one but I think the last one is my favorite.

Dina 11-25-2016 12:00 PM

Thanks for all of your votes. I am currently leaning towards the 3rd one. :)

I am with you Dina, 3rd one!!!

UncleGravy 11-25-2016 01:06 PM

I vote blue... but I will defer to the cat's opinion.

nativetexan 11-25-2016 01:10 PM

yep, the first one . or the last if you need it larger. Very nice!!!

Deb watkins 11-25-2016 02:27 PM

The blue brings the entire quilt together!

zozee 11-25-2016 02:31 PM

First one--hands down! I LOVE your quilt. What pattern is it? The planet fabric is a LOT of fun to look at.

Jordan 11-25-2016 02:56 PM

My vote goes for just the blue. It is a beautiful color. I don't feel that the white does anything for your beautiful quilt.

daisydawg 11-25-2016 04:19 PM

#1 is for me!

The pattern is called What Knots? in a book titled Mystery Quilts by Rita Fishel. When I first started quilting, 6 years ago, I found that the instructions for mystery quilts were just what this beginner needed. I bought several mystery quilt books, but Rita Fishel's book has been my favorite. I have made several quilts using this pattern. It is fun to make.

I vote for number 1.

I'm a great fan of 'floating' the design of the body of a quilt. View 3 does this better than the other two, in my opinion, and is more attractive to me.

Thanks, Jan, for putting words to why I prefer the 3rd choice. I was trying to explain it to my son, and it is the "floating" that really describes what I like. It also seems to give my eyes a place to rest....and I think I will consider my decision made. Tomorrow I will sew the borders on.

I liked # 3. Seems to frame it better. What did the kitty like?

jmoore 11-26-2016 03:48 AM

I like the first one as well...the aqua/blue is a nice pop of color the white just disappears.

QuiltnNan 11-26-2016 04:40 AM

i vote for #3... i like the center 'floating

ghquilter53 11-26-2016 04:44 AM

Just the blue inner border. Love it.

quilterpurpledog 11-26-2016 04:49 AM

Another vote for #1.

twinkie 11-26-2016 05:46 AM

#1 is my choice.

sinceresissy 11-26-2016 05:46 AM

No.1 for me. I like the planets and your quilt.

I agree. The aqua just finishes it off perfectly.

JENNR8R 11-26-2016 05:54 AM

I'm a real fan of floating blocks usually, but I like the first one better on this one. The rectangles make the design look like it should end there. The blue frame does a good job of doing that.

Texas_Sue 11-26-2016 07:06 AM

Number one is great!

Luv Quilts and Cats 11-26-2016 07:21 AM

I like number three

salederer 11-26-2016 07:47 AM

I like the turquoise one by its self.

red-warrior 11-26-2016 08:52 AM

I too like #1
