Its a great quilt!!! She should continue to quilt if she can - she sure did a great job. I am not sure what I would do - a thick batting would help but I doubt I would go really crazy with quilting - I wouldnt want to take away from the great design of the quilt pattern. I do like the baptist fan idea. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it - thanks for sharing

Stippling on the long arem with a thick batting hides a multitude of sins. She's probably not going to even notice the problems.

Try using high loft poly batting. That will take out a lot of the wonkies.

Well with all the help you gals have given, I think I might be able to put it on the frame by adding extra borders for stretching if needed. I watched a video about stretching a wonky block back into shape, so I will do that before I put it on the frame. Luckily she gave me the extra fabric, I think maybe she might have known I might need it. Normally I use Warm and Natural batting, But I also keep poly around for baby quilts, Its narrow batting by the roll so I'll need to piece it together. Crossing my fingers, and hoping for a best. Thanks for all you helpful tips!

Yes she did a wonderful job for her first and only quilt. She can sew anything, she used to sew for extra money, but shes a seamstress. I've learned that theres a big difference between being a seamstress and a quilter, both have there own set of rules. I still wish I had half the talent that she has when it comes to sewing. You should see her home, gorgeous! Recovered her own couch and you would never know, makes her own drapes, beautiful! you would never know they were homemade. Very talented at 81, and you're not gonna believe this she still works selling houses! To look at her you would think she was around 60 but shes 81!

I think you will figure it out....but if it was me, I think I would echo quilt it, and quilt the inside of the star a 1/4 inch in. As another lady said, "Quilt it with love, nothing else matters".....it will be beautiful.

If there are areas that are seriously out of whack, I would measure the block. Maybe a small adjustment in the seam would help. As to the quilting--quilt it with love--that's all that really matters in the end.

If she is proud of her work then do what you can. She will love it. It's really not that bad and it was her first quilt. All quilts are beautiful
