Why should they dislike something you have made them. My nephew designed his own quilt and selected the fabric at their ages. It was large squares in specific colours and placed in a bargello style, thank goodness.

I did this design wuth a black background, red, royal blue purple and raspberry pink for my 31 yr old son.cwho thought it was awesomeand momovesit from his sofa and his bed depending where he is. I'm sure I posted a pic when I made it but I can't find it. I alternated the panels the red and blue in the panel with the square and the purple and red for the long blocks.

I, too, agree with the above about the color choice. I think that we some times go with the person's current interests and especially if they are younger kids, they outgrown the interest or the interest changes. They idea of color would lessen that problem.

I made my grandson one using the Irish Chain pattern and Star Wars fabric, royal blue and a fabric that had a black background with stars fabric.

Were the pinwheels made with the twister ruler? I think it would be just fine to make a boy quilt in that pattern. Just get colors they like.

What's nice about that design, too, is that it's not geared toward any specific age. The boys can use it forever without feeling like they have a 'kid' quilt.

Most excellent quilt. As a Star Wars fan, I approve!

Pinwheels aren't too feminine. I did a Twister quilt with flannels that had a nature theme and my nephew loved it. Just choose fabrics that appeal to them and they will love it.

I love your quilt, is there a pattern name? Would like to get the dimensions....great for a wonderful fabric that you don't want to cut!!!

I think pinwheels can go either way, depending on color/fabric.
