That's what I've done, but for more absorbancy, you could double the flannel and use the fashion fabric on the other side.

I made these for my new grandson. I used two different flannels with scrap warm & natural in the center. They hug your shoulder really well. She even has a pattern you can download for the shape.

I'm late on this subject, but I used nice soft terry towels to make the ones for my grandbabies. If you buy the nice thick ones, you don't need but one layer.

My final ones were made with cute printed flannel for the outsides and another solid flannel for the 'batting'. I tried using a thin batting but just didnt like it as well. I made them in the peanut shape and they turned out so cute...

I have two under two! So, I make a lot of burpies! I use the receiving blankies I was given. Come on, they only fit for a few weeks! I quarter them and back them with chenille or a cotton towel. They are wonderful!
