That is what my research found about the models. I weighed up the fact that it comes with an inset table that I saw today which was sturdy, it is slightly stronger and my Mum has had experience with the Elna and Janome and she prefers the Janome. Apparently both can be touchy at times but the Elna can have a tendency to errors with small amounts of dust.
Plus, hubby said the Janome and as he is paying for it I think I have been 'told'...lol. |

I do not have the 6600 but do have three Janomes. There is nothing cheap or flimsy about any part of the machines. Never had a problem with them and they all serve my purpose quilt well.

Enjoy your machine I use to be a diehard Brother fan and still love my 2003 ULT but I got a JANOME 10000 at a garage sale and loved it so much when I got a new machine I went with the Janome 11000SE I love it. I gave my daughter the 10000 and she is in heaven with it So enjoy your purchase seems like you had very good help picking it out

I have an Elna quilters series and really like it. They have everything for the quilter on it or you can get. This was such an upgrade from my Singer that I couldn't believe it. Don't know much about the Janome.

I have an Elna ,Have been quilting almost non stop since the early 1990s . I love it , have had it serviced 2x. Jolo

I have a friend who has an Elna and really likes it - hers is old but it is a workhorse - good luck - I have a janome Jem and love it -

There are alot of quilters turning in their 6600's on the new Janome Horizon. I just bought another 6600 for our ranch home so I didn't have to lug my machine around. I was fortunate enough to get a machine that was only four weeks old (used), trade in on 7700...it came with the full 25 year warranty. If you want a new machine, you can't go wrong with the 6600. By the way Elna is made by Janome. I have an Elna CE20 that I love...same as the Janome 9000. But for quilting, the 6600 is the best. The accufeed eliminates that bulky walking foot, the auto thread cutter is worth its weight in gold. You never have to cut threads off of your quilt or pick them off of yourself or pets. The separate motor for winding bobbins is great..less wear and tear on sewing motor.(new 7700 doesn't have the separate motor) Check the prices on the new 6600, they have come down some since the 7700 release. A good trade in is a good investment too. I don't know how I lived without my 6600. Brubaker's Sewing had two 6600 trade ins yesterday.
