I have the Janome 6600 - it is a workhorse - Have a smaller Janome as well for classes, etc. Wouldn't trade my Janome for anything but the Janome 7700.

This is one of the important reasons that I got the 6600. My husband works for a mfg. company and knows about machining and the 6600 is made with ball bearings, not the bush and castings that a lot of them have or the plastic interiors. He told me that it was the sturdiest machine that we looked at. We looked at all kinds and test drove them. There were some with more bells and whistles, but when I'm going to put out that amount of $$$ I wanted something that would last.

Besides that, it is a totally awesome machine!!!! I love the attached walking foot and the accu feed system is a dream!!! I can just sit there and feed it. Very user friendly machine.

I feel like a salesman, I'm not!! I just am very pleased with my purchase.

Thanks for your endorsement of the Janome from a technical point of view. I appreciate the specifics of how it is constructed! I have a baby Janome (Jem Gold) and hope to upgrade to a 6600. I love the baby Janome, too!

I too only quilt. I have a Bernina 1030, about 15-20 years old that stays in my Quilt Room. I love it, not computerized

I also have Jem Gold and Jem Platinum - both of them can do everything. Both have a little bar on the standard foot that keeps the cloth at 1/4" seam. I bought the walking foot so I can quilt on them too.
They are not that much money and are good machines.

I was at a Janome show last night where they demonstrated the new Horizon (7700) for quilters. It's an upgrade from the 6600. Boy, oh boy, nice machine.

Janome rep says Janome bought Elna. Singer bought Pfaff and Viking.

I have a Brother Innovis 1500D.....have never bonded with it.

Haven't been able to find a quote yet on line. Did you get an indication of what they'll go for?

Since the new Janome 7700 (Horizon) came out at the first of the month, the dealers are seeing a lot of upgrades from 6600 to 7700. Check for a gently used 6600 at a phenomenal price. Can't go wrong with Janome - perfect stitch, easy to use, and the needle threader is to die for!

I researched alot before buying my Elna Pro Quilting Queen 7300 and I love it.
Look at this post from Jodi's blog. She does a comparison between this machine and Janome. Very interesting.

I agree. If I buy another machine it will be a Pfaff.

Sewing machines are like husbands. They're all sewing machines like husbands are all men. However, some, even in the same gene pool seem to have more quirks than others. Sometimes we get a jewel and sometimes we get a bummer.
