I screwed a 1/4 inch dowel rod to a piece of 2x4 -anchored it between my sew table and wall then while shopping my fav used store I found a paper towel holder same thing only it's nicer looking put some velcro down to secure it -the best 25 cents I ever spent

I bought one of the cone holders that look like a flower. It works well with those large sizes I get from Connecting Threads and all my King Tut threads. I tried a wine bottle once but it din't work so well - hic......

I had the same problem. I used an empty Royal Dansk Luxury wafer can . raised the can above my above my machine and placed it to the right of the machine, placed the spool in the can. When I change thread color I leave a small amount of thread hanging and put the lid on the can.This way I can see which can had the thread I want.

Do you mean that it wobbles, if that is the case, you buy this wooden inserts with a hole in center that fit into the spool and into the machines spool holder. I forget what they are called. Also you can buy a spool stand , I bought a cast iron one.

Cut a straw the length you need and slip that over your spindle. It works for spools that are too tall for a regular spindle.

I've heard of using the tubular plastic container Parmesan cheese comes in---it has holes in the top for the thread to come out and you can add some flat decorative marbles to weight it down.

I too use the large coffee mug for the thread and it spins in the mug with no problems an you thread as usual.

I use mine by putting them in a jar right behind my machine. Works great so far.

I bought the plastic one with a coupon at JoAnn's and it was a waste of money, so I got the metal one at Connecting Threads and that works great. It's on sale right now for $11.20 at Connecting Threads.

I almost exclusively use the Connecting Threads Essential spools. I have a Viking Machine and it came with 2 disks; one small and one large that slides on the spool holder after I put the thread on. My machine spool holder is horizontal. These are great threads and I've used them for hand quilting as well as sewing...great buy and great colors. I was also able to purchase longer spool spindles from my sewing machine dealer for the vertical spool spindle on my machine. Don't know what kind of machine you have but maybe you can do the same. Good luck! P.S. I would not recommend the cone thread holder from Joann's...too flimsy!
