My LQS just closed so I'm forced to buy my thread at JoAnn's or online. I really like to touch the thread I buy but if it's $12.00 a spool, I may have to only dream. Thank you for the link!!

Trythis: http://www.tristan.bc.ca/cart/home.php?cat=38 If you go to the home page: http://www.tristan.bc.ca/ it's hard to find the grab bag page. It will be listed on the left after going to a sale page.

I always assumed Aurifil was the most expensive for piecing but when I did the math, per yard, Superior Masterpiece turned out to be the most expensive. I use a bit of everything and often order on the internet b/c of all the LQSs in my area, none really carry a good color selection of any brand thread, for quilting or piecing/applique.

I haven't ordered from this shop but it is in California and the Aurifil is $7.50 a spool. http://www.nancyrinkdesigns.com/shop/thread.html

Another shop which is cheaper at $5.00 doesn't have all the colors.

I've purchased threads from this eBay store and was very satisfied with the purchase and the store. http://myworld.ebay.com/sunnysidequilts/

I couldn't agree more! I've tried a lot of threads, but now that I've been sewing with Aurifil, I won't try any others. It doesn't fill my machine with lint like other cotton threads. I was astonished the first time I tried it. I have always cleaned out lint every time I sit down at my machine AND every time I change a bobbin. Don't have to do that with Aurifil! If the bobbin area isn't getting filled with lint, I think the areas I can't reach are not either.

Divide the price by the number of yards on the spool to find out the real cost of your thread. I'll bet some of you will be surprised at how much you're paying for "cheap" thread.

Exactly!!!!

I buy from Sue's as well. I have a bunch of Guterman, but my new Janome 6600 doesn't like Guterman and locks up. I'll just have to use it on my Feathrweights because they don't mind it.

Here in the UK our prices are horrendous so as a Senior Citizen on a budget I shop canny and get 99% of all my quilting fabric and threads from the USA as even with postage it comes out to up to 30 - 50% cheaper than what we can get here.

For the past 5 years I have got ALL my threads from here: http://www.threadart.com/c-660-all-cotton-thread.aspx the quality and selection, besides the service is A1+++ These cones http://www.threadart.com/c-6-heavy-d...on-thread.aspx are exceptional and I know a number of long arm quilters who have been delighted and amazed by the quality, price AND lack of lint.

jhittlesewing.com sells it for 8.38 per spool as well as the large spools of Aurifil Invisible thread.
