It isn't Cardinals but I found a pretty cool quilted Christmas card under BLOCKS on the Quiltbus.com site. There are 1600 free quilt blocks available and I got the Christmas card block under "A, letter." I'll try to attache the instructions but if it doesn't take, you can at least check it out at the Quiltbus.com site. Good Luck. Feathers, Hi Thanks, it is great. And best of all I will be getting my Christmas done early! Love the idea! Plus thanks for the good link. :P

Hi Donnarae:
I'm glad you liked the site and the Joy Christmas card. I thought what I might do for ladies who are in my quilt group is to make this card with a picture of our group in the center block. We make and give about 50 quilts a year to our local foster care program so whenever we send a bunch of quilts we take a group picture with all of us holding our blanket (s). I think my quilt friends will love the card. Another idea I had was to make the card even more personal by sending each of my quilt friends the card with THEIR picture alone on the front of the card holding up one of their "show and tell" projects. Enjoy, Feathers |
Hi Feathers, Great ideas. I like the one with all of you holding the quilts on the card. You know because it is a group thing. I am still working on an idea but for sure whatever I do I am going to put a picture out to see!

Great, Donnarea, I'll be waiting to see your pictures. Feathers

Hi everyone, this is an update; I went to Debbie Mum website and she has a free pieced block of the month pattern and one of the squares is a cardinal. Another nice block is a butterfly. Actually all the blocks are great. :D You can get the cardinal now, it is the easiest I have found yet! Have fun Go To: http://www.debbiemumm.com/projects/quiltblocks/2007/

Hello Yvonne,
I have just signed on to these message boards for the first time. Your cardnial paper pieced quilt is beautiful! My mother and I both love cardinals, and I see a lot of them (I see one or two nearly everyday), since I moved to Georgia from Michigan. I have never actually tried paper piecing, only because I have not had the time, but I think I might try it with the cardinals. |
There are some really beautiful fabrics with cardinals. You could fussy cut the birds and put into an Attic Window type block or used for a star center. Lots of ways to go with cardinal fabrics.
