These are described as 100% cotton glazed chintz - and are Made in England. About 1960's vintage. I think they are curtaining fabric and are only just heavier than quilting cotton, with a shiny surface - shinier than polished cotton.

Would they be suitable for a quilt? I have enough to make about 3/4 large quilts, and I am very tempted to use them. What do you think.

Yes you can. They last longer too.
I have one daughter who still has all of the quilts I made for her. I also have another daughter who goes through them until they are rags. She is a clean freak and washes them almost every week. I have to re-sew every seam at least twice, sometimes three times if it looks weak. Ha Ha, my seams are still there, but the material wears thinnnn.
