This is also my way of saying thankyou for all the encouragement, friendships and laughs I've had since I've been on the board here  .

Below are the Patterns for the Christmas tree ornaments. I would reccomend the 3" and the oval star for experianced piecers who enjoy a challenge, the 4" is less demanding. If you are relatively new to this method try the larger sizes posted further on in this thread and work your way down to the smaller sizes.
I added a ribbon for a hanger and bound these with bias, an alternative would be to bag, turn and stuff with a little batting. Below is included the patterns for an 8 & 10 inch circular star the 8" is a great size for a pot holder and I have made the 10" into a placemat, you could also make a matching 4" to use as a coaster
Also below are foundation piecing intructions for anyone who would like them. I haven't include cutting directions for the fabric because there are so many different sizes, also cutting needs vary with the quilter. I recomend that you start out with quite large pieces if you are new to foundation piecing, as you get the hang of it you will be able to work out how much allowance you need to give yourself. I really hope you enjoy these and have a very Merry Christmas :P Star Variation 8" Circular Foundation Piecing Instructions Star Variation 10" Circular |
Thank you for these, Shelly. I love your fabric choices. I'll save these patterns to make a whole batch next Christmas. It doesn't look like I'll make it this year.

Thank you sooo much and a Merry Christmas to you too!!! These are an adorable gift!!! They remind me of the window pane cookies the lady down the street from us made when I was a child. She used hard candies to fill in the stars while they baked in the oven. These will bring back memories of her for years to come!!! Thank you again!!!

Shelly,
Thank you so much. You are such a blessing to us when you took the time to share your patterns and directions particularly since it is the Star of David. I have already printed copies and will definitely use them again and again. May this holiday season be especially specials this year. Remember: HE IS THE REASON ! ! Suzanne |
Merry Christmas!

Thanks for posting your ornaments, directions, and suggestions for other uses. My dil loves seasonal things, and I think these would be great as potholders or hot pot spots. I plan to make her a set with one for each holiday. After the holidays, of course!! :)

Shelly,
Thank you very much for the thoughtful Christmas gift. I am going to start working on them right away so I will have enough to decorate my whole tree next year. A Blessed Holiday Season To You & Your Family  |
Happy Holidays, Shelly,
What a lovely, thoughtful gift for all of us. Since the powers that be chose to raise my taxes this year, this great grandma was looking for something practical and easy to do for my gang. They can always use pot holders, ornaments, hot dish mats etc. I am getting busy today. Thank you for playing "Santa" this year. |
Thank you so very much. What a wonderful gift to quilters. Merry Christmas to you . Quilter 1234 P.S. they are beautiful. :D

I agree with you all, these are beautiful and being the Star of David does help remind us why Christmas is not just a "holiday". Thanks Shelley and all for your comments. I'm still fairly new at this and really enjoy seeing the encouragement many offer in their comments.
