The quilt museum in Lowell MA had a display of potholder quilts. The potholders had been handed out during a presidential campaign and someone had stitched them together, I believe, with the whipstitch. That is perhaps where the idea came from. Yours is very nice with the Christmasy bulbs.

That is a precious block and would make up a really cute quilt or wall hanging!. I'm going to be watching for answers about the QAYG. This would be a perfect ongoing project for the year.

After Christmas, I will put my design wall back up to hang the blocks. Right now I have a sleigh quilt hung and a wrapping paper center set up in my sewing room. Stay tuned.

There are many ways to join quilted blocks. I posted a tute here in the tutorials section and Paper Princess has already given the link to it. It's an easy method that doesn't involve any hand stitching at all.
