Christmas Quilt Pattern

Good Morning,
I am in need of a pretty Christmas quilt pattern. My church has a "Harvest Sale" in November and we ususally have a quilt to auction or raffle off. I have been asked to make a quilt for this year's sale and was asked if it could be a Christmas quilt. It needs to be a queen or king and an easy pattern. (I may have others working on it with me that are not very experienced quilters.) If anyone has a pattern or knows where to get one (I will buy it) please pm me and let me know. Thanks.

I love Crazy Old Ladies Christmas quilts. I made 3 last Christmas. They are easy and fun!!

lisalovesquilting 03-06-2012 06:22 AM

Good morning to you too, and welcome! I'm sure you will get some great ideas, but any pattern you like could be a Christmas quilt if you use Christmas fabrics. Good luck.

What about a 10 min block... I'm working on one.. It is SO easy and fast~~but looks hard!

What's a Crazy Old Lady Christmas quilt?
I'm a newbie here and to quilting.

LadyElisabeth 03-06-2012 08:32 AM

I agree, if you use Christmas fabrics you could use any pattern. ALSO, what is a Crazy Old lady Christmas Quilt? sounds like a fun one.

Blue Button 03-06-2012 12:20 PM

Thanks, ladies. I checked out the Old Ladies quilt patterns and the 10 min. blocks. I must say the 10 min. blocks are fascinating. I am going to see what Christmas fabrics I can find today and maybe that will inspire me. LOL (Guess I'm just not ready to think about Christmas already).

I did a Christmas quilt using Eleanor Burn's Tumbling 9 patch ( I think that's the title) you make 9 patch squares then cut them into 4ths turn and shuffle then resew them together It worked great with the Christmas fabrics and is easy to do Good luck in your choice and don't forget to post pictures of your finished quilt. Best stitches --April

Missouri Star has some cute Christmas Layer Cakes and the Double Slice Layer Cake pattern looks fun and easy. The tutorial is on their site.

I made a Zig Zag quilt out of Christmas fabric and it looks sooo nice. I used a great tutorial....just sew strips together, then cut and reassemble. Simple! Here is where you can find the tutorial:

http://beesquarefabrics.blogspot.com...t-without.html

And if you go to google images and type in Christmas Zig Zag Quilt you can see some great examples!

I usually look up patterns as they are suggested when I'm not familiar with them and I must say, Poinsetta Passion is exquisite. I may have to order that one.

Have you thought of a Take 5 Pattern? It's quick and easy and I think they always look great!

ghostrider 03-07-2012 06:18 AM

Just search Google images for Christmas Quilt and pick the ones with promise. Track down patterns from there or come back and ask for help.

Caswews 03-07-2012 06:51 AM

Oh goodness so many Christmas colors and ideas out there .. good luck ! Be sure to show us when you are done !

caspharm 03-07-2012 07:19 AM

I made one out of the Stashbox pattern by Four Corners design a few years ago. I have my copy, but it's available at Hancocks and some other websites. I still want one to make another out of non-Xmas fabrics.

I think I used some charm packs for part of it.

What about Attic Windows (red, green, & cream) with different Christmas fabric in each window. Either "In the Beginning" or "Elizabeth's Studio" has religious Christmas lines.

Eureka! is another gorgeous Christmas quilt, but it's not at all easy.

I can design a simple quilt and you would need to add the colors. I have a few in my files. I will send them along if you would like to see them! Luann in CT

I think Warm Wishes looks good in Christmas fabrics and it's easy enough for even beginners to do.

I've been thinking about doing a Carpenter's Star from Xnas fabrics. There's a pattern for one that uses layer cakes that seems neat. Or you could do a Trip Around the World. I did several as lap Xmas quilts.

I did streak of lighting in christmas fabrics for my grand-daughter

Highmtn 03-08-2012 04:50 AM

You can also do a lot with a "Disappearing Nine Patch", and they are scrappy looking too. If you cut your blocks a nice size you can whip right through one. I made a twin sized "10 Min Block" in an afternoon. I didn't ever master the 10 minute per block aspect.. more like 20 per block, but it was still SOO FAST and I wanted the tips of the center diamond to be perfect given I was donating the quilt to the United Way.

I was curious too about "Crazy Old Ladies Christmas Quilt" and a Google search only took me to a blog called Crazy Old Ladies, that was selling patterns. http://crazyoldladiesquilts.blogspot.com/ So I'm not certain if that is what the poster was refering to but that is all I could find. When I looked at images on the web looking for the Crazy Old Ladies Christmas Quilt this is the image that pops up

I did "Three Bean Salad" (Available in the Leisure Arts book "Wild About Flowers" from Leisure Arts) in Christmas prints and loved it! Quick and Easy for any skill level.

RedGarnet222 03-08-2012 10:09 AM

A turning twenty would be fun in christmas fabrics too! Or how about a bento box? Both really easy quilts.

CharlottsQuilts 03-08-2012 10:55 AM

What a good time to be looking for Christmas fabric! It's all on sale here.
