I have misplaced (lost) my cleaning brush for my sewing machine. My dealer is quite a distance away to get the same brush. I was wondering if you could share how you keep the dust bunnies out of your machine. Do you vacuum ,brush or canned air? I have a Bernia 730. Thanks

I don't blow anything inside my machine..its scatters the dust up into parts of the machine you can't get to. I use a long paint brush to get into places that my little brush cant get...a tad of oil on the brush helps catch the dust easier.

Don't use canned air. It can blow the dust bunnies farther into the machine. Try a small artist paint brush.

Hi,

I have a old Bernina 730 Record and a newer Bernina 1090 that I clean with a regular sewing machine lint brush. Here are some neat instructions on cleaning out a Bernina machine and he uses some different "tools" you're sure to have around the house.

Hope you find this helpful, I know I learned a thing or two. :D

A lot of people use their vacuum with the attachments made for cleaning out computer stuff.

Also, Kaye Wood uses the large sized pipe cleaners to get the fuzzies out of the bobbin area.

I have a 200e...I use a long soft paint brush and Qtips. I wouldn't recommend blowing into it at all. The canned air drives them further in and blowing my mouth blows moisture into the machine.

Now I've got to go watch that link, bet I'll learn something too!

Thanks so much for all your help!

I've been told not to use the canned air on my Bernina, but I do sort of. First I use the brush that came with it (but I have used a small paint brush before) cleaning out all the lint and threads in bobbin area and under foot plate. As a last step I use the canned air in both places.
