My walls are soft peach with a white ceiling, white trim and white fixtures. It makes me happy :-P

My room is bright lime green with white trim and white bookshelves and sewing table! The lime is my signature/favorite color and makes me happy. It is so SASSY! If you want yellow I think you should have exactly what you want - what will make you smile every single time you go into that room!

You could always get a full spectrum task lamp. I have a ceiling fixture with full spectrum bulbs and a small task light (Ott lamp) with a full spectrum bulb. They really help to see true colors.

idea, in our family room is where I sew now, the walls were the dark paneling, I just took indoor light ivory paint and painted over the paneling and is so light and bright now instead of the dark paneling, I left the dark woodwork to give it some contrast

My sewing room is raspberry sherbet with navy blue and cream accents. It is a bright happy room, and I love spending time in here. It also holds my desk and computer too.

My DH told me last night that he is no longer going to use the office in his garage and that I can have it as my new sewing room. It is much nicer than the area that I now have located in our unfinished basement. I originally thought that I would repaint etc. However, I went out there last night and just sat and dreamed. The current walls are a light grey with white molding and the cabinets are white. There are several Hot Rod posters and related signs on the walls. I decided that I am going to leave the signs and the paint. The light gray is the perfect background to make fabric samples pop. There is a large window in the office that looks out to the garage where I can watch my DH and DS work on their hot rods and other projects. The room has a 5 CD changer, TV with cable, dorm fridge, coffee pot, micro wave, huge U shaped computer desk that I will use for sewing and cutting, computer, two cork bulletin boards, shelves etc. I never thought that I would ever have such a nice place to sew. Yay me!

I know! It is a dream come true. My DH spent a great deal of money building a detached over sized three car garage with an office a few years ago. It is much nicer than our home. LQTM. But now he has glaucoma and leukemia so he has to slow down a little. I can't wait to get in there and start moving him OUT! If I sound heartless, I'm sorry. Inside I am really sad that his health is the reason that he is giving up his dream. That is one of the reasons that I have decided to leave his Hot Rod signs up.

The walls in my sewing room are a butter yellow with white trim.

This a pic of my rm. the wall color is a lite beige, it was that color when we bought the house and since I wasn't sure what color I wanted I just decided to live w/ it. I love my bright cheery primary colors, the room has to be cheerful & inviting.

Light brown walls and high gloss white woodwork. Don't want to detract from my fabric.

Mine is pale blue...but that is because I was too lazy to paint the room before taking it over. It used to be my son's room.
|
Bright Pink!
|
my sewing room is pastel green and white trim
|
Mine is in the laundry room so it is a rather dingy off white. I find that good lighting is more important than wall color for seeing true colors in fabrics. Unless you are talking a really bold color choice. If I could paint my dream sewing room, I'd choose a neutral or pale warm tone. MMMMM makes me seriously consider stealing the family room downstairs and claiming it as my own!
|
Mine are light pink, and I love them!
|
Your sister is correct. The yellow will reflect color onto your work and you may not get a true white balance to give the true colors you are wanting...
|
Nope. Mine's bright turquoise blue. It's really cheerful and it makes me happy to be in there.
|
Dark Gray with bright white trim, it works for me.
|
Mine is freshly painted a mauve sand, that is what was left over from the living room!
|
The walls in my sewing room are all white.

In the room I had, before I swapped rooms, it was a rosy mauve. Sandy |
My longarm room is yellow and I love it. My other sewing room use to be our guest room and it's painted gray on the top and dark blue on the bottom with a stencil in red painted at chair rail level. I like it too. I say paint it the color you want. It's nice to work in a room that has some style to it.
|
Mine is definitely not white!! The background color in my avatar is the wall color, but this seems lighter than it actually is. I usually am very timid with paint color, but I wanted to have fun in my room, so I went for it. I've never regretted it. If you want yellow, go yellow.

My sewing room is covered in a small print neutral wallpaper and mounted deer horns.......yes you are reading this correctly. It's a shared space with my husband. Gun cabinet on one wall, fly tying bench on another. I have my family's old kitchen table from the 50's set up right under the window and have taken claim to the closet. Every wall is covered with deer horns. Maybe I should tie some fabric strips around the horns for Christmas while hubby is out in Kansas on a hunting boondoggle?????? Redneck sewing room?

I rent an old bungalow an the whole upstairs is painted a neutral light grey? I thought about painting it but my fabric covers all the walls, but what I did was I made a very small valance for my large sliding windows, its 10" tall by the length of the window an its a very abstract print with all the colors of the rainbow on it, it's just enough to brighten the room, and also represents all the colors in my fabrics that I use. Although I think yellow is a nice sunny color, you don't have to go real bright on it, I think it would work out ok, white is good too, but I really like alot of natural light from the window.
|
The first time I painted my sewing room, I went for soothing and painted it a light sage green. The second time, I painted it a nice yellow - not too bright.
Since my planning wall is white (and there is a lot of it), I didn't think I needed more white in my room. |
My sewing room is bright yellow - because that color wakes me up, seems to warm up the room in the winter and I just like it. Do what you like - you are going to be spending a lot of time in that room.
