The realy cool thing about this pattern is it is all just a suggestion so you can place and cut all the angles however you want so every pot is a little different. Fun!

I'm a little bogged down pinning the tops to the bottoms of the baskets. Some lunch, stitch those, then add the sides of the baskets and I'll have the blocks ready to trim. I love to see your works in progress. It makes me giddy to have like minded people sharing.

ube quilting 05-20-2012 07:55 AM

Annthreecats, Wow, you finished that in no time. Love the way you did the binding.

Joy.lynn 05-20-2012 07:57 AM

I planned to quilt today on my bowtie quilt for my sil. But, I just got a phone call and my daughter, grandson(3) and brand new baby girl are coming over the river and through the woods to see us. Maybe at nap time........

annthreecats 05-20-2012 07:58 AM

Thanks ube quilting. I love doing bindings on the machine. I wouldn't quilt at all if I had to do it by hand. Ugh.

Have fun everyone. I'm off to have lunch and start working on the afghan I'm crocheting for DD.

nancia 05-20-2012 07:58 AM

ok-- crisis moment! i can either read the next three pages of posts or get started. i will come back to read the
posts i promise!

good morning! i'm tickled i got here before noon!
i have a crazy doll quilt to finish for that swap, and i want to make some alice in wonderland blocks for that swap, oh, and i have to move a desk into my new quilt area so i can set up the machine to sew. just got a new table for cutting! woohoo! but it's too high to sit and sew. the legs shorten so i can use it for either.
and i promised to make coffee-- it's in the large pot in my sewing room-- feel free to help yourself whenever you'd like some!:D. now, for one of those donuts!

Liz92B 05-20-2012 07:59 AM

I've got four goals for today/this weekend:
1. finish a mini-quilt top (layer, quilt, bind)
2. one block for a Canadian Quilt of Valour quilt (the first block!)
3. one block for an online Mystery (Carol Doak's yahoo group)
4. one block for the local guild
I also *need* to mow the back yard which is now a foot high ...

meanmom 05-20-2012 08:04 AM

Wow everyone has so much done already. I finished marking the quilting lines on my baby quilt. Decided I wasn't in the mood to FMQ right now so I cut postage stamps for 1 1/2 hours. My eyes felt like they were going to pop out so I came downstairs to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer. I took a break for lunch. I cut up a pineapple MMMMMM. I am going to go do one of my paper pieced stars now. I don't think I will get caught up on that project today, I am 4 behind on that project. My DH and DS are both gone fishing and working( they are combining the 2)so it is just me and the cat today. NIce and peaceful and quiet here today. It is kind of nice for a change. It has been a rough week at work. Happy sewing everyone.

I'm trying to post a photo. The help menu says to click on the post image icon on top of the message box. Huh? What do I do if its not there?

PokerDiva 05-20-2012 08:50 AM

redmadder click on "go advanced" under the quick reply. go to "manage attatchments" go to "brouse". Find your pic. open. Click upload. If it fails your pic is too big and you need to make it smaller. If it uploads, close window. "submit reply". Hope that helps.

PokerDiva 05-20-2012 08:51 AM

UPDATE: Applique is now sewed down. Know why I prefer needle turn. Lessons learned. Moving on.

Here is my first WIP completed. It's a wallhanging for my 3 year niece for Christmas.

Chicca 05-20-2012 08:59 AM

Great bag! I adore the fabrics that you chose; they work splendly together.

Chicca 05-20-2012 09:01 AM

So Adorable! You did a great job. Congrats on completing.

athenagwis 05-20-2012 09:03 AM

Oh my goodness!! I have some catching up to do, I am going to go back and read everyone's progress, but it sounds good so far. I am loving the pictures that have been shared thus far. Unfortunately my mojo went out the door today so i took a side trip to the store to get some new shirts. :) :) :) But my goal is to make up for it this afternoon!! So it's lunch time where I am, how is everyone doing so far???

Chicca 05-20-2012 09:03 AM

Alright, I have finished two more blocks, eaten a lite lunch, read all of the posts. This is fun to see what every one is doing, planning and accomplishing. But, I am off to chose another thread color and another block. Have great Quilting adventures.

Worked this morning to finish a quilt for a toddler. Tomorrow hope to finish the baby quilt too.

Loved reading what everyone is working on today.

jcrow 05-20-2012 09:36 AM

My project I want to do today is cut out all the applique for the snowmen heads and stars for my new quilt. If I have time, I want to cut out the background squares and maybe even applique them on. I'm not making it hard on myself. I'll just pop in and out of my sewing room. I get hot flashes if I stay in there too long...all the lights and the hot iron.

mcdaniel023 05-20-2012 09:42 AM

Hi everyone. I started to sew. My stupid shoulder started hurting, again. I got on the computer to find a new lower sewing table. Hubby says, "Would it help to take the wheels off of your table."
Well, duh. So a few hours later, the wheels are off. Some other things are moved around and the room is clean.
The table is the correct height and the binding is on a wall hanging that dh found at a quilt show. Yep, he picked it out. I will take pictures later when I get the next project started. Lunch time......

redmadder 05-20-2012 09:47 AM

Great to see you all here. I take a break to check in, do a chore, and get back to it. Ready to sew the sides onto my little red and white baskets. Looks like it will be a twin with sashing and cornerstones. May not get it together today but the blocks will be done so it doesn't look like a pile of scraps taking up space.

Looks like everyone is getting alot done. And everything looks so pretty. I have the top done for a table runner but don't have anything I like for the backing. I'm thinking a pinky/purply batik which means I'll need to go shopping :) I am in the middle of putting together a Sweet Treat bag (Moda honeybun)

And my helpers/inspectors aren't really helping that much! The one keeps stealing my chair everytime I get up.

Better late than never, it's after 11 on the West Coast & I hope to get 2 more of these little colouring totes done this afternoon. But my little grand dog helper arrived to spend 12 hours with us instead of sitting alone.... so not sure how much stitching I'll finish.

nancia 05-20-2012 10:20 AM

on my goodness! i can't keep names straight long enough to make individual comments, but i am blown away by what y'all are doing!! i want one of each!! i think i'm becoming a virtual quilter-- i stay on the computer longer than at the sewing machine. of course, if i read and typed as quickly as i sew that might change a little.
waiting for dh to get himself together so i can bring in a desk to sew on. meanwhile, i'm standing and sewing like they do on you-tube tutorials! i'd rather sit, thanks! time for more coffee and then back to play!

irishrose 05-20-2012 10:21 AM

I'm late, but will sew far into the wee hours so the time will be the same. Am I stalling because sandwiching the red quilt is going to be a bear? The back is another quilt so everything has to line up. This is only my second time using the boards, but I will manage once I get started. See you later.

Everything posted so far is great. You ladies are so fast!

117becca 05-20-2012 10:24 AM

I'm on track reaching my short-term time frames to complete this last side. It is fun seeing what everyone is working on! My inspectors know better than to get in my way today. LOL!!!

Well, the Sweet Treat bag is completed but I think something is wrong with it as I can see the interfacing on the inside and I think I'm only supposed to see lining! I'll have to reread the directions and see if I missed a step somewhere because I have another one to make.

I can't the pictures to add this time for some reason, will try later. I'm going to go take a Yankees/Reds break for a while! :)

Pat625 05-20-2012 10:35 AM

BEAUTIFUL!! lOVE THE COLORS!!

My daughter in law wants me to make little fabric bags, lined for the little ones to carry their snacks, to eliminate using throw away zip locs..wondering if yours is the same thing...If it is where did you get your pattern?? Was going to m ake a pattern, but would be easier if I could buy one..

Go REDS!!!

redmadder 05-20-2012 11:06 AM

The breaks are getting closer together. The Braves are playing Tampa so gotta keep track of that. Bread is baking and chicken in the oven with it, gonna call that supper. I for sure would be stopping about now if not for this so back to sewing on the sides, then the bottom triangles. I can see now this was intended to use up scraps of white so there are different shades and whites are getting scarce in the scrap bin.

redmadder 05-20-2012 11:08 AM

I got close with the pictures, got an error message. Went to go advance, manage attachments, upload screen, but it doesn't say why it failed, size I suspect but no idea what to do about that. Baffled but will try another day. Back to sewing.

1st goal reached. Except the tendrils. I am not sure how I will do them. No special stitchs on my machine. If anyone has a good idea lets hear it. I have June's instructions left to get. I would say it was just a border but I have two halve stars left. Hmmmm.
