My computer has been so slow lately, takes forever to switch between pages sometimes. Has anyone here ever tried one of those services they advertise like "Finally Fast" Just wondering if they actually work. Have McAfee running and have done all my computer maintenance jobs and clear my cache very regularly.

I would try calling McAfee first and see what they suggest. :D:D:D

You probably have a whole lot of spyware that McAfee will never catch. You need spybot search and destroy and Adaware. One catches what the other one misses.

That's one of the things virus software companies don't ever tell you, one program won't catch everything.

We have had lots of problems with McAfee, and refuse to install it. We use Avast

Do you regularly do a disk cleanup & defrag?
Sometimes that's all you need.

A few suggestions:

- try running Spybot (it's software you install). It may clear some things out that McAfee isn't aware of.

- clean up your start-up programs (http://windows.about.com/od/customiz...t_programs.htm)

- defrag your drive

- get more RAM (how much do you have now?)

- last resort: reinstall windows. You have to back everything up first though!

Try this:

Open the run program in the start up menu. type %temp% and click run. This will bring up all the tempfiles on your computer. Delete the all.
Also type msconfig.exe in the run command window and select start up. uncheck all programs you do not need to auto start when the computer is turned on. The will free up lots of memory. Go to KimKomando web site. Her computer program fixes are the best and many are free.

i agree with everything before this... but i've also found that using Mozilla Firefox browser is much faster than Internet Explorer. Firefox is a free download and you get fewer popups.

Google Chrome is much faster then all the browsers and protects your computer too.
