Mine is apt to do that more often than not on this site. I'm wondering if it's because it's so heavily used, but I found by clicking twice it really speeds up. Hope this works for you as well.

2. Download CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER and run this weekly.
3. Download the free version of Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ This is one of the best programs for getting rid of viruses.
4. Download the free http://www.superantispyware.com/ This will alert you to any problems. While you cannot have two Security programs running at the same time you can and should have more than one anti-spyware program.
5. I use firefox as my browser and have WOT as an add-on. It will id unsafe sites: http://www.mywot.com/

I downloaded #4 - let it scan (took about 10 minutes) - it came up with 23 cookies and one other 'thing' - rebooted and I can see a difference in my 'surfing' ability.

Thanks so much!

:) Glad to help. Make sure you use #3 too as it seems to be one of the "go to" programs to use when you do get infected. Don't rely on just one of these.

i looked that up. unfortunately, one needs win7 or better and i'm running winXP only.

I am on XP and have used Google Chrome since it was released. I love using it and browsing is so much faster and organized.

I know what you mean, been there already.
Avast is what I've been using the past 3 years.

But it seems that google is being tracked by spyware in the past weeks.

I use my bookmarks for surfing now, can't surf without being directed to some survey site or auto insurance quote.

BEFORE you download, uninstall your McAfee.

The other thing you might try to make your PC run faster is to do a de-frag.

You must have clicked the wrong button. Please try it again and click the white "Download Now" bar not the green one. There is an upgraded one that you can buy but the free one works great!

What great advice in this thread....one thing I want to stress...NEVER install two anti virus programs..I am not talking about spyware, ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMS...always be sure you have removed one before installing another...nightmares can happen if you do not...

Go to control panel, and try to find out where they "de-Fragment" your hard drive. There is a wizard just for that!and do it! It clears out a lot of bits and pieces of old programs that were once deleted, but are still hanging around.
And also, go through your e-mail inbox and delete as many unwanted e-mails as you can!
That should help speed things up. and you can do them yourself.
