I put an empty spool of thread inside the cone and just set the whole thing on top and thread as usual.

I did something similar before I got a cone stand...I used a large paperclip where you used the fork!

Great idea with the fork. I think I have that exact same sewing machine. lol or at least it looks the same. Same color and everything. I pretty much have the same set up on my sewing machine for cones also. Only, I used a pin taped to the back of my machine. I really like the fork idea though.

That is very clever. You can never stop a sewer from figuring out something to keep our habit going. Very creative.

Ingenious! I giggled because, it looks silly, but it works and is a testament to our love of the craft that we'll do what needs doing so we can sew. Lol! Love it.

I improvised once using a c0ffee cup, with a 12" or so dowel rod rubber-banded to it, with a paper clip on top. The paper clip was held in place with a thumbtack. I ran the thread up through the paper clip, then through my machine. It worked perfectly. :D
