Cone thread - no stand

I'm staying with my DD for a couple of weeks and brought along some sewing. I use her machine but she has no cone stand for the thread I brought. Here's my solution. I thought others might find it useful in a pinch. It doesn't show in the picture but after it goes through the fork the thread goes around a spool pin. Then it threads as usual.

Thanks for the tip. Where there's a will there's a way!

Here's a better picture.

I did this when I went to visit my mom and had to use her sewing machine. Instead of a plastic fork I used a safety pin but taped it exactly the same place, then ran the thread through the circle part that is at the bottom of most safety pins. Can also be done with a paperclip.

I love your solution. And with something so simple. I'll have to remember this.

That is a MacGyver solution for sure! Well done!

I sat mine in a cup and skipped the thread spool.

Same here. But the fork is a cute idea.

Because of the way her machine threads it wouldn’t work without the fork and spool pin.
